Arrived almost at 11pm a night with heavy rain. The whole compound was almost pitch dark, the concierge asked how we wanted to pay all though we had pre paid for our whole 11days stay. We were really hungry after a long day's travel, and asked if any of the shops og restaurants were open, but by 11 they all closed. Being totally new to the place, and due to the rainstorm we had no chance of knowing how to get in to town at this point, and the lady at the reception desk helped us none with this. So we went to bed hungry.
Even though we had a rough and not so welcoming start, we became to love our little stay at Santa Marina. The hotel village is a really beautiful sanctuary situated along a hillside. There are thousands og steps and steep hills on the compound, and even if we loved it, this isn't for everyone. To be blunt you need to be in an ok shape to stay here, haha. With that said, they do have boogie cars picking up and driving ppl around, but we never took advantage of those. The breakfast buffet was ok, the bread tasted like paper, but there was an ok variety of toppings og and eggs, and the dessert table made every breakfast to a party for our 12yr old. The pools were all nice, you can choose from 4 (1 was out of order) different ones, some real quiet and others pool-party-like. There's lifeguards at every pool, and kids from age of 10 can go to there by them selves. The cleaning of the rooms were immaculate,7/w! Even though we had a rough start, we're open return.
