I smelt what I thought was sewage gas from time to time in the room. My son pointed out that I would smell it when the ac turned on and we wrote it off to being a smell in the ac. Well, I eventually became nose blind to it as I didn’t notice it anymore by time I was ready for bed. I took a shower and used the eucalyptus blend body wash provided (powerful, but pleasant small) and crawled in on the edge of the bed (room 209 next to the window). When I woke up I noticed a horrendous smell. I couldn’t locate the smell at the edge of the bed, but it was on my hands. I went to wash my hands and came back to try and locate the smell. In the middle of the bed, including the mattress cover, was the overpowering stench of dried urine. I immediately went for a shower where I discovered not only were my hands in it, but my shorts had absorbed the smell as well. I’ve been nauseous all day thinking not only how I’ve slept in someone else’s urine, but what bacteria it may have contained as well. I did completely strip the bed and informed the gentleman at the front desk, but didn’t get an apology. Hopefully, at minimum, they will clean the bedding and mattress, consider pads that prevent moisture reaching the mattress, and have a better turnover so that the next person doesn’t have to sleep on something so disgusting. Again, room 209 on the bed closest to the window.
