The carpet near the sink area was soaking wet when I checked in. It didn't dry that evening, and the concierge did tried to use a towel to dry it, and another towel over it, so that I didn't have to step on it. It slipped my mind that the housekeeping is done alternate day. Hence the 2nd day, when I returned to the room, it smell like dirty soaked socks that has been left there for days. I had a headache and couldn't sleep. The next day, the concierge arranged for deep cleaning which will dry the spot and remove the stench. The room smell so much better with room spray on that 3rd day. However, on the 4th evening, as the room spray has faded, the stench seems to appear, though not as strong, but it's there.
The maximum room temperature is at 26 degC, and it seems to be at AC mode instead of heater mode. On days with the stench lingering in the room, I had to keep the temperature to 22 degC or lower and it's too cold for me.
I hope this is a one-off bad experience, due to the wet carpet left by the previous guest. About resolving the stench issues, the concierge and housekeeper had done their best. Could be better if another round of cleaning happened on Day 2.
The room is big and spacious, king size bed is comfortable. Luggage drop off & storage is well provided.
Location wise, tram station is right at the door step. Very convenient to get around the city.
