Very very nice place to stay

The room and common areas were beautiful- well thought out and nicely decorated. Everything was very clean. The only downsides were construction happening next door into the late evening and being able to hear neighboring rooms and toilets/showers etc. The surrounding area is nice, lively, and walkable.

Far exceeded expectations!
It was one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in, very quiet, private, clean. Highly recommended especially for the reasonable price in comparison to other hotel options in the downtown area.

Stylish and well-appointed boutique hotel
Stylish and darling boutique hotel on a vibrant street in Grand Rapids. I stayed for work but would love to come back and stay with friends or family.

No people. No front desk. No warmth but was clean.
No idea it was āself serviceā which I hate. I have been in the hospitality industry for 40 years because I live the personal touch. After driving 3.5 hours from Chicago, I needed to use the ladies room. Front door was locked. Called # on window and they said ā you have to fill out the formā. Some lady called me while I was driving referencing some form which I assumed I could fill out at front desk. There is no front desk and no people. I heard someone come home after me last night but never saw anyone. Totally weird. Not my type of vibe. Rate on line said $79 then $100 in fees was added on. Not good!

We love the property and will definitely stay here again. It would be better if we did not have to check out by 10 am though. Really cute and super clean

I stayed at the BlueJay for the Grand Rapids Marathon and as I was late in making hotel arrangements, this was the only left hotel available within walking distance of the race. I had to pay $350/night when the normal rate is $227 (or there abouts with all the fees). It was quite pricey for about 10 hours of stay and I didn't appreciate being taken advantage of.
What they don't tell you is that there is no front desk and no staff. You have to have a smart phone to check in/check out and to access your room both the hotel itself and your room.
Check out is 10 am. I planned to be running at 10 am, so if my partner was not leaving the hotel at 7:30 am, when I did for the race, I'm not sure how we were supposed to check out on time as I do not carry my phone when running and the reservation was tied to me. They charge an extra $25 for the privilege of late check out . . .
There is no coffee in the room, but there is a kitchen downstairs with a Nespresso machine. I don't know how to use a Nespresso, I don't have one and I have only used one a couple of times at other hotels. They had no instructions. I attempted to make coffee by what I could see, but there was no love from the coffee maker and no caffeine for me.
The room was nice and clean, but the amenities were spare. Although as I was only there 10 hours and slept for most of them, it didn't matter.
