We had the pleasure of staying with Rocco at his truly beautiful, exotic and historically fascinating property, La Maginot.
The place has been restored with enormous care and attention to the smallest detail. Art, history, design – there are surprises everywhere. You arrive in a quiet and rather remote location, but the moment you open the door, you suddenly find yourself in a truly magical place.
Rocco has many years of experience in hospitality, and you can feel it in every detail. He has transformed a historically fascinating property into a highly unusual and very special place to stay, while still being conveniently located not far from Cremona – a beautiful small city with a wonderfully relaxed Italian atmosphere and absolutely worth a visit in its own right.
What made our stay even more memorable was an exclusive tour Rocco gave us of the property and its history. During the Second World War, the site was used by the Germans as a military fuel depot, and traces of this past are still part of the place today. For anyone interested in history, this makes La Maginot particularly fascinating.
But above all, there is Rocco himself: a wonderful, warm and fascinating host who has a story to tell about almost every corner of the property. We could have listened to him for hours.
We honestly could not have imagined a better beginning to our journey through Italy.
