This is, by far, the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. The staff was not friendly or helpful (one gave me the most vague directions imaginable to the pool and lacked much knowledge about the area). I was more than willing to let that go, but it went downhill from there.
The room was unbearably stuffy and the beds were uncomfortable and hot. My family had a hard time getting to sleep and all of us woke up, several times, during the night. The worst part was when I realized I was having trouble breathing and was unusually congested at 4:00 am, after several hours of trying to sleep. It became clear that we needed to leave.
While we were packing up, I shut the bathroom door, but had to open it a few minutes, later. When I reopened the door, the unmistakable smell of mold hit me in the face. Earlier, after swimming, it hadn’t been noticeable to us because we were recovering from the chlorine exposure.
When we went to check out, the staff member on duty at that time was unreasonably rude because I had booked through the Hotels.com app and, instead of offering to be of assistance, chose to be obnoxious.
I mistakenly thought that a hotel bearing the Hilton brand would be a safe bet. I could not have been more wrong about this location.
Thankfully for us, Sleep Inn at 5555 Donnybrook graciously helped us get a room for less than this one cost and we were finally able to sleep. We had to rearrange our plans, but at least we were able to rest.
