In the end the room was fine, but I had to do a lot of work and it was very confusing. First, the address on Hotels.com is not the address where you will be staying. They've got properties all over the neighborhood so you have no idea where you will really be staying. Second, I use Hotels.com because it is so easy - one site and profile to book a myriad different properties. But after booking the room I then had to go through an entire account creation and booking process on the property's own website, including entering my credit card on this website I'd never heard of. The site was glitchy and didn't work well on a phone screen at all so it took me half an hour to get through it. I had to sign a contract with them, and it was a good thing I read it. In there it said that if the blinds were damaged I'd be charged for each of them. When I got to the property fully half of the blinds were damaged. If I hadn't read that contract I wouldn't have known that I had to report them as soon as I walked in and would have been on the hook for a lot of money. The contract also said that the trash may be full when I got to the property and it was my responsibility to take the trash bins out to the curb on trash day. When is that? No idea. Also, we're supposed to do the dishes before we leave. Take out the trash, do dishes, inspect the property...what am I paying for if I'm doing all this work?
