There are so, so many things that are exceptional about Roost and so many reasons it is the best stay I have ever experienced. But there is one dimension in particular I want to highlight: I came to Roost after being recently abruptly displaced from one place after another over the past 2 months as a result of an ex I have a PPO against; in the past 2 months alone, I was displaced from or had to abruptly leave and scramble to find a safe place to stay at least 4 times. Most recently, I was left with less than 24 hours to find a safe place to stay. It has been extremely hard to find housing that is both safe and staffed with caring people who are responsive to and prioritize my safety needs as a survivor.
The conditions in which I had to leave my most recent home made me like it compounded my already existing feelings that my safety doesn’t matter and that my life and safety are disposable as a survivor.
In the short time I have so far stay at Roost, I have experienced the highest level of care for my safety, responsiveness to my needs, specifically as a survivor of intimate partner violence, than I have experienced at any place I have ever stayed.
