Overall, everything was fine. The room was a little small but adequate, and the location was fantastic - right in the heart of everything.
The only problem was the check-in, which was an absolutely awful experience.
We arrived in the early afternoon after hours of exhausting travel, only to find ourselves standing outside a locked door. There was no one inside, and despite ringing the bell repeatedly, we got no response.
There was a phone number on the door for WhatsApp messages only (WhatsApp calls weren’t possible), but no one replied to our messages for over an hour.
Fortunately, after half an hour of waiting, a local offered to help and called the hotel using a local phone line. Their excuse was that they didn’t have our email address, so they hadn’t been able to send us the check-in instructions.
Then, while we were sitting on the doorstep outside the locked entrance in 40°C heat, they asked us to complete an online self-check-in process that required quite a lot of information and answers to various questions. Only after completing it were we finally given access to the building.
