We stayed at Sago Palm Hotel 4 nights in December 2024, in between Christmas and New Year when rates were extremely high, and unfortunately we could not wait to get out of there...
The positives: the room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, most furniture and equipment was new. The hotel's restaurant serves delicious food (but expensive), and the hotel's staff was lovely and welcoming.
Now, the negatives: the music coming from the nearby bars/clubs was extremely loud at night, so loud that it almost felt like the party was happening right down the hall! It was starting every day in the early afternoon, and getting progressively louder in the evening, until 2-3AM! I normally can sleep with a bit a noise, but this was really too loud to sleep. We told the hotel staff, but they couldn't do anything. We asked for ear plugs, but they were not able to provide any... A few other inconveniences included very slow service during breakfast in the morning (up to 90mn wait for our food during peak time), and staff unable to help us book excursions. Another thing to note, is that the area around the hotel was a bit sketchy. As 2 adult women, we felt a little unsafe going out for dinner.
All in all, Sago Palm could be a great little gem, but unfortunately the noise at night is unforgiving. That is the main reason we had an awful stay, and would not recommend anyone staying here.
