I booked through Hotels.com. Normally, as a VIP member, I get a room upgrade. My room was so small I wasn’t able to move my suitcase to the other side of the bed, as the end of the bed is too close to the wall. I had to carry it over.
Breakfast was not part of my booking so I paid €14 the first morning. When I had to check out, I had an early flight and asked the woman at reception if I could just get an apple from the breakfast room as I needed something to eat. She said no, if I wanted the apple I had to pay the €14 breakfast charge. This is not good customer service. It was just an apple.
The man who worked the desk in the afternoons and evenings was very helpful. He recommended restaurants and asked afterwards about whether it worked out. He cared about my experience. The woman on check out did not. All I asked for was an apple.
The hotel is well located near Place Catalunya, where I normally stay in Barcelona. The hotel looked good once inside. However, my tiny room and the check out woman’s lack of support as I had to leave early left a sour taste in my mouth.
