Just enjoyed a great weekend break at The Queen’s Head in Rothbury. Room was spotless and good to have a separate shower cubicle too. Plenty of sockets and a lovely light up mirror in the bathroom Bed and pillows were really comfortable. Staff were friendly and very helpful and a super breakfast was a bonus. My only wish was a fan to cool us and the room down Would certainly recommend The Queens Head to anyone visiting Rothbury

Could do with a bit updating but saying that they have already started to update. It’s a very old building so it was expected. Beer garden was lovely and nearly finished. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was nice.

The room appeared and bed was lovely but bathroom a little sad, also fount some rubbish from a previous guest in there The team were friendly, I didn’t manage to get the time to go to breakfast. No turn down service on the 2nd day unfortunately and tea tray was limited but had tea which was the priority.

On arrival room felt cold was told they would increase the heat, no difference, half radiator was cold so suggested it needed bleeding. We had to sit woth coats on. They couldnt locate key and was advised they would look for this and deal with it. No update provided. On checkout nobody about to speak to. Radiator still cold room cold. Dined in restaurant. I chose venison casserole however was then told they didnt have the vegetables as advertised and it would come with peas. I had also ordered a side order of roasted brocolli with garlic. When the 'casserole" arrived. It consisted of portion of mash, half a plate of peas and 3 minute pieces of venison. I wouldnt call that a casserole... the brocolli arrived cold and very raw. I had to ask for it to be heated up. The only hot thing served was the mash the other things very tepid. I ordered eggs benedict for breakfast the sauce was not the required temperature. My husband was given toast on his full english but no butter provided. Nobody came back to ask if everything was okay so couldnt mention about lack of butter or the issue with the hollondaise. Having been hingry grom the previous evening poor meal I ate some of the breakfast however did not enjoy it. On leaving nobody around except ceaner so asked who to complain to. She stated she would pass on my concerns???

Room and decor fabulous

The check in was fast and friendly, the room is lovely, with a nice view. There was quite a lot of noise from the street below early in the morning and the church bells were regular throughout the night. The breakfast was a good amount but lukewarm spolt the vibe. The price we paid , i think was high for this standard.

Disappointed

The room was acceptable, the breakfast the first morning included a burnt tomato and burnt fried egg. The tables were not laid and there was no one to help. No proper fruit juice and no fresh fruit. Very poor. It improved the next morning.

Great little stay , very busy little pub ….but ..the room amazingly well insulated from noise ! Fantastic breakfast ! Friendly and attentive staff and overall great feel to the pub..

"2 night stay

Stayed for 2 nights nice welcome first day. Breakfast was poor, eggs hard, bread soggy think had been prepared a while in advance. Ate in hotel first night food was fine. Second day asked for heating to be turned down as thermostats not working, then no heat at all.

Super overnight stop - ancient building (so, sloping floors, quirky staircases / corridors), but with modern facilities in room. Great breakfast, with super friendly service

Stayed here as we where at a wedding not far away, hotel manager sorted our transport to and from the wedding wich I was so greatful, room very clean and bed was so so comfortable, breakfast was lovely overall lovely stay

The accommodation was very good (except for the window which needs some attention), the en-suite was excellent. Both the evening meal and the breakfast were excellent. We can't see what some of the other reviewers found wrong with the breakfast. It was freshly cooked to order, delivered by a very pleasant young lady. All the staff we encountered were equally so. Excellent location on the main street.

Room was very top of hotel with no lifts. Shown to room by barman but offered no help with bags. I’m 70 years of age and 5 flights of stairs was a struggle. Asked for another room but was told hotel was full. Decided to stay as was only one night. I think when people are getting booked into rooms up 5 flights of stairs it may be an idea to check for any mobility issues with not offering lift facility. And staff should certainly be offering to help with bags!
