This property is an embarrassment to the Marriott brand.
I booked one night here for my in-laws due to an emergency, and their experience was a nightmare. They are extremely loyal to Marriott and have held Ambassador Elite status for as long as I’ve known them. They both said this is the worst Marriott property they have ever stayed at.
The central AC is not working in most of the rooms. Instead, you’re given a portable AC unit in the room. These units are exactly as noisy and disruptive as you would expect.
And here’s the best part: the portable AC is vented through the window. Yes, that means your window is left open all night in the middle of Downtown St. Petersburg. Humidity is a problem, as is outside noise.
I’ve lived in St Pete for 13 years. Downtown is always lively, both from nightlife and traffic. This property sits on 4th st, one of the main roads in the city. At 3:00 a.m., there will still be traffic.
If this were a roadside motel charging by the hour, maybe this situation would make sense. But this is a Marriott. If a room isn’t up to Marriott standards, it shouldn’t be offered for booking.
I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews, but at $394 per night, this one felt necessary.
