On the outside the Oaks is a beautiful building set in lovely grounds. Unfortunately that is where it ends! Inside it is very dated and tired. Communal carpets are worn, torn and have tape suck on them in place. This presents a few trip hazards. No lift and lots of stairs and corridors even to get to the ground floor! The room was dated, tv was loose on the wall, bathroom door squeaked terribly and the shower drain made a horrendous noise throughout the whole time the shower was running. We booked 2 nights, understandably the room wasn’t cleaned on day 2, only the tray contents replaced. However my dirty coffee mug was just left, it would not have taken much effort to have replaced it with a clean one. I did ask at reception and was given a clean mug. We reported the shower issue to a young man on reception this morning and there was no interest whatsoever, only a bit of a laugh. Our corridor was narrow but made worse by four large trolleys stacked with towels being left there. The best part of our stay was the spa aside from the 15 minute wait as no one was behind the counter to help us. Such a pity as the property itself is very beautiful, needs a total refurb and people who care
