3/5 — Excellent hotel, one spectacularly unhelpful receptionist
Let me be clear: Hotel Artemis is great. The room was comfortable, the location works, everything was exactly as it should be, except for one particular unhelpful receptionist.
On Monday evening, March 23rd, around 18:35, I bought food from the vending machine in the lobby. It didn't print a receipt. Since I'm on a work trip and need documentation for expenses, I asked the receptionist on duty for help. He confidently told me that the vending machine was operated by a completely separate company, and that it was — his exact words — "impossible" to contact them.
This turned out to be spectacularly false. I emailed the hotel's own general contact address and had a receipt within the hour. The charge literally shows up as "CCV*Hotel Artemis" on your bank statement. So either this receptionist didn't know that his own hotel processes the vending machine payments, or he simply couldn't be bothered to help and decided that making things up was easier than doing his job.
I'll leave it to management to figure out which of those explanations is worse.
Again — wonderful hotel. Just don't expect this particular front desk employee to go above and beyond. Or above and at. Or above.
