If Kava wants to operate as an overnight hostel, they should advertise it honestly instead of masquerading as part of the hospitality industry. There is no hospitality here.
The online check-in app is unusable. While some people might be fine with virtual check-in and check-out, I am not. This system was both unusable and inconvenient. It should not take two thirty-year-olds and a YouTube tutorial just to check out of a hotel. Add to that the fact that there is no elevator or handicap accessibility and the parking situation is practically impossible, and you’ve got a recipe for frustration. These aren’t minor inconveniences they’re deal breakers!
Inside, the experience is just as disappointing. Guests are instructed to strip their own beds and haul linens to a basket at hotel prices, that’s insulting. The beds are uncomfortably low to the ground, the pillows collapse into nothing, and the only redeeming quality is that the soap smells decent. Congratulations, Kava you’ve managed to reinvent the world’s most expensive dorm room, just without any of the fun or community.
For the rates charged, this is unacceptable. Save yourself the frustration Pittsburgh has plenty of options that actually understand what hospitality means.
