AVOID IF YOU HAVE KIDS – Major Safety Hazard and Shocking Response
I am writing this because I feel a moral obligation to warn other parents. During our stay on Jan 21st, my one-year-old daughter was injured in the pool when her foot was sucked into an uncovered suction port in the pool wall. This is a terrifying entrapment hazard that can be fatal—we were lucky it was only bruising and trauma.
What’s actually worse than the mechanical failure was the hotel’s response:
Instead of helping us or closing the pool, the manager on-site actually tried to blame us for being in "that part of the pool." There were zero signs or barriers, yet they tried to make us feel responsible for their broken equipment.
After escalating this to the directors level, their only idea of an apology was a 50% discount on a future stay due to the poor interaction we had with staff. We live in the UK and will never step foot in this hotel again. Offering a coupon after a child is injured is insulting and shows how little they value guest safety.
It has been 2 weeks since the incident. I asked for proof that the pool has been fixed so no other child gets hurt. Total silence.
We paid for a premium experience, but we left with an injured toddler and the feeling that this hotel cares more about their bottom line than the safety of children.
Please, please check the pool walls before letting your kids in. The management here clearly isn't doing it for you.
