Review of Island Inn, Barbados:
The property itself has potential: the colonial-style buildings are charming, and the location is excellent—just a short walk from Pebbles Beach and Carlisle Bay. Unfortunately, everything beyond the exterior was disappointing.
Cleanliness was a major issue. While the bed was made daily, the rest of the room remained dirty throughout our entire stay. Basic maintenance was clearly overdue, and it showed in several areas of the room and facilities.
The staff experience was even worse. We were met with rudeness, unfriendliness, and an attitude that made us feel like our presence was an inconvenience. Nowhere else in the Caribbean have we encountered hotel staff who seemed this unmotivated or uninterested in their guests.
The food didn’t help redeem the stay. Although the hotel offers all-inclusive dining, the quality of the meals was well below expectations—definitely on the lower end for an all-inclusive resort.
Overall, Island Inn has a great setting but fails dramatically in service, cleanliness, and food quality. We would not stay here again.
