Check in was great, and the gentleman who checked me in (Greg) was very friendly and kind. During check-in, he asked if I would need the room cleaned and I said yes.
I was in the room the next day and noticed that the cleaner who I had seen in the hallway had bypassed my room. I went to her and asked her about taking care of my room, and she said that 417 was not on the list. I went to the front desk and spoke with Greg (who had checked me in), and he confirmed that my room was not on the do-not-clean list. He radioed the cleaner, and she said she did not have time to clean my room.
I told Greg that it was ok that I just needed fresh towels, which he provided me and apologized for the misunderstanding.
The carpet in the hallway on the 8th floor is ragged and in need of replacement. The room I was assigned (417) had an odd smell that is noticeable as soon as you enter the room. After a while of being in the room, the smell is not that evident.
Everything else about the stay was fine.
