Overall we had a really good stay at The Kimpton. Unfortunately our first impression was not great (and you only get one chance to make a first impression!). We arranged a hotel car to collect us from the airport. Usually, in other hotels elsewhere, we find that the hotel is expecting our arrival as the driver calls ahead and gives them an ETA. We think this happened, although we don't speak French and so we're not sure.
We arrived, there was no doorman and no luggage porter anywhere near the front door. The driver unloaded our bags and left them on the pavement, making no attempt to assist us into the lobby. We struggled in to the hotel with our multiple cases and, although greeted with warm 'hello's' no one actually came to help. This may sound a bit silly, and entitled, and yet by the time we got to the front desk we were a bit deflated. I only really mention this because the rest of our interaction with the staff, be it reception, concierge, housekeeping or restaurant, was great and so this is really a bit of constructive feedback for the management to see whether the 'first impression' can be improved.
As I said, we were really happy with our stay after that. It's a lovely comfortable hotel and we'd recommend it to others and stay there again.
