When I got to the hotel, the manager had me wait for an hour while I contacted Hotels.com, because the last name on my debit card was my maiden name, and my license is my married name. I have NEVER encountered this before.
Finally, he agreed to check me in. He demanded a $50 CASH ONLY deposit. Of course, there is NO ATM at the hotel. So I had to leave, drive around looking for an ATM, and pay an $8 ATM fee to get the money.
There was construction on the second floor. People running table saws, hammers, banging, a lot of yelling and people.
There were people in the parking lot working on crappy old cars, changing fluids, using the parking lot as a work area for personal vehicles.
When I got in the room, it was FILTHY. Anything plastic, like the air conditioner, outlets, bathtub, fixtures, were ANCIENT, yellow, shrunk, decayed, cracked, damaged. The floor was sticky. The walls were filthy.
MANY people were all around the place, hanging out outside the hotel and in the parking lot. Most of them looked sick, on drugs, or mentally ill. It did not appear safe and was very loud with all the people shouting at clouds and spazzing out and whatnot. People were living in that hotel. Charlotte does NOT care for their homeless population OR for the mentally ill or people struggling with substance abuse. They have no recourse and nowhere to go, but it is very irresponsible of Hotels.com to list this property with inaccurate photos as a place that is safe to stay.
