I’ve stayed in San Francisco hotels at least weekly over the past year, mostly for work. After living in SF for 15 years, I moved a couple of hours north and still visit often.
Kasa La Monarca is one of the best places I’ve stayed. It feels more like an Airbnb than a traditional hotel. Comfortable, cozy, and without the usual hotel formalities. The property is consistently clean, and every room I’ve stayed in has been spotless.
Located at 717 Sutter St. near Taylor St., it’s close enough to Union Square for convenience while still offering a neighborhood feel. Restaurants, shopping, and nightlife are all within a short walk.
If you're driving, there are two nearby valet garages: Parking Nexus (840 Sutter St.) and State Garage (818 Leavenworth St.)—both of which allow advance reservations. Street parking is available but can be limited, and it's best not to leave valuables in your vehicle.
For food, I highly recommend Uncle Vito’s (700 Bush St.) for pizza and Italian dishes. Matador (679 Sutter St.), just half a block away, serves excellent tacos, great drinks, and some of my favorite Mexican food in the city.
If you're visiting San Francisco, Kasa La Monarca is definitely worth considering.
