Misleading Promises & Poor Customer Support – Be Warned
I stayed at the Midland Hotel in Chicago from June 13 to June 15, 2025. My original reservation was for three nights, but I had to check out one day early due to an unexpected change in schedule.
I informed the front desk in advance and asked if the unused third night (June 15–16) could be refunded. I was explicitly told by the front desk staff that a refund was possible, and they would process it.
However, no refund was issued. When I contacted the hotel after noticing the full charge on my credit card, they backtracked and claimed that early check-out refunds are “not possible.” This is blatant dishonesty and a clear case of miscommunication or false assurance by the hotel staff.
If a hotel makes verbal commitments and then completely ignores them — that is a serious breach of trust. As a frequent international traveler and a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member, I expected transparency and professionalism. Instead, I was met with false promises and poor accountability.
