Staff is great; hotel needs updating
The staff is incredible. They were kind and sweet and responsive. But the hotel itself is rundown and really needs some updates and repairs. Unfortunately, our room smelled like mildew and mold. We never mentioned it to the front desk though because we were busy running around with family. And frankly, I guess I was just hoping it would go away.We were there for four nights and after the third night, I wished I had said something. So we tried to spend as little time as possible in the room because of the smell. The carpets are worn and the elevators are slow. But again, the staff were wonderful. Every time we reached out and requested new towels, we got them. Something to note though is that we reserved and paid for a one bedroom king suite. When we checked in, they told us they were out of those and put us in a queen standard room. However, we paid for the king one bedroom suite. So I had to spend an hour on the phone with hotels.com to try and get some money back since we ended up in a standard room and not the king one bedroom we paid for. It was frustrating and annoying because the hotel was telling us that it was hotels.com that needed to make the decisionand hotels.com was telling us. It was the hotel and neither one of them was agreeing to refund us even a little bit. Again, after a little over an hour, we got a little bit of money back. But I’ve been through some of the reviews now and it seems that this is a common issue with this hotel so be aware.
