Statement of Concern Regarding Non-Compliance with Connecticutās Clean Indoor Air Act by Super 8 Stamford
It has been observed that the Super 8 hotel located in Stamford, Connecticut, is in violation of the Connecticut Clean Indoor Air Act (Conn. Gen. Stat. § 19a-342), which prohibits smoking in outdoor areas within 25 feet of building entrances, operable windows, or air intake systems. Hotel guests are frequently seen smoking directly at the main entrance, where both adults and children regularly enter and exit the lobby.
Furthermore, the property owner and/or operators appear to have made no reasonable efforts to ensure compliance with this statutory requirement. Notably, there are no visible signs posted to inform the public that smoking is prohibited within 25 feet of the building, as recommended by state guidelines. This lack of preventive measures contributes to ongoing violations and poses a potential health risk to guests and staff.
