First, the positives. The staff with the exception of the Piano Bar was outstanding, and service oriented, despite the no tipping policy.
The Island presented a secluded environment where everyone was exceedingly friendly. The lunches that were delivered were of dubious quality and quantity. lf you weren't in line quickly, you were out of luck.
This hotel is definitely due for a major upgrade almost everywhere. The carpeting was aged and stained. Our safe was out of order and after two days a replacement was placed, unsecured on a shelf. Our toilet dripped constantly. The shower had mold. The television was missing all major networks months after the hurricane took out options. Missing the NFL playoff games was a bummer. Housekeeping came early, even knocking at 8:04 AM on Sunday. Nightly entertainment was sparse and There was little to do after 8PM except drink at a bar.
If you are looking for a low key, no frills accomodation, this is the place for you.
Do not expect the amenities to match the common luxury options you may have experienced at other locations.
