When we arrived to check in, they informed me that the pet fee for our 2 small to medium dogs would be $25.00 each. I showed the clerk that the website stated the fee was $15.00 each, and I also called the customer service number to confirm the amount, which confirmed the same information. She replied that she was unable to change the fee charged and stated the website misrepresented their fees. I asked to speak to the manager. She picked up her cell phone, seemingly to call the manager after stating he was not there. I was not allowed to speak to a manager by phone or in person. My hotel was prepaid and non-refundable, so we had no choice but to pay the additional fees.
I was required to sign a paper stating a list of fees I, as a patron, would be charged due to for damages, for smoking, pets, or theft. I told the clerk that the Lobby smelled of cigarette smoke. My first-floor room also smelled like a cigarette. I opened the window to our room, and the screen was bent and the lock was not secure. My husband used his cane to secure the window during our stay. Fortunately, the air conditioner worked well and cleared the room of most of the smell. My husband and I did not feel safe in this hotel.
The outside was not maintained. There was lawn/ garden equipment stored outside next to the entrance, all the outside trash cans were overflowing, someone's half-dead tomato and flower plants were sitting with the lawn/ garden equipment as if someone resided there full-time.
