Terrible experience from start to finish. I arrived after the stated 3:00 PM check in time and attempted to check in, but never received a room key and was never given access to a room.
The front desk employee was extremely rude and unprofessional. I provided my credit card and ID for verification since the room was already prepaid.
Without explaining anything or asking for consent, he attempted to charge my card for use of the in room safe, which was already in the room. When the charge was declined due to my card's security controls, I questioned why my card was being charged at all, especially without my authorization or a clear explanation.
Rather than addressing the concern calmly, he raised his voice and insisted it was hotel policy. I pushed back, matching his "energy" because I had just stayed at another hotel under the same brand and have stayed with this brand many times. Charging a guest's card without consent or explanation is not standard practice. His only response was to point repeatedly at a small sign behind the glass that was poorly placed and not clearly visible, using that as justification for an unauthorized charge.
On top of that, despite arriving after check in time, the room was still not ready. After waiting around ten minutes with no key, no room, and no resolution, l left.
This was one of the most frustrating and unprofessional hotel check in experiences I have ever had.
