I chose this hotel for its proximity to The Beacon. I arrived early due to train schedule. Quite a few people, mostly family and groups were there waiting for early check in. I was offered luggage check in. I stayed in lobby for about an hour to recover from train (water, restroom, etc) and took luggage offer. During that hour, other customers arrived to seek early check in. I went to walk and they said they would call. I arrived back to an empty lobby (everyone checked in) and asked about my room. The desk person could not even find my name.
I told him I had checked in earlier with someone else and in fact, they had my bag. He asked for my name again. Found it and curtly said "Your room will be available at 4pm, our posted check in time". This is classic solo traveler treatment. Being NYC, I would expect better.
The lobby decor is boutique, lending some charm, but uncomfortable for long waits.
