Atypical experience for an embassy suites
Upon arrival, I noticed a linen bag in the closet, which I assumed contained all items needed for the sofa bed, including a blanket. Because of my sons’ individual medical and sensory needs, I also proactively requested an additional blanket, which was delivered promptly. Later that evening, I went to prepare the sofa bed and realized the linen bag did not include a blanket as expected. I attempted to call room service three times, but no one answered, so I submitted a second request via the hotel’s text messaging system, along with a request for two extra towels. The towels were delivered while we were out, but the blanket was not. When I followed up again via text, a housekeeping employee came to the room and stated that hotel policy prohibits providing a second blanket. I explained that this was not a duplicate request—it was for the sofa bed, which was missing its blanket…The employee interrupted, and eventually said, “I’ll go ahead and do it this time,” in a tone that made me feel dismissed and uncomfortable. Because of that encounter, I placed a “Do Not Disturb” sign on our door and chose to decline housekeeping for the rest of the stay to avoid further interactions. The following day we left the room with the “Do Not Disturb” sign displayed on the door, the staff ignored the DND sign and entered the room when we were out. I have never had a hotel ignore a guests DND request before. An apology was provided, but I left uncomfortable for the rest of my stay.
