Meh. I used to really like staying at the Eastside Lodge ā as it was a clean, no-frills alternative to the Jupiter hotel or other small, reasonably priced hotels in Portland. However, this time ā in spite of the fresh coat of paint on the exterior (which looks nice :)) ā well, itād be more appreciated if the owners spent a little money freshening up the āinsideā, too? Get rid of the old, gross carpets in the rooms. Just have tile ā thatās what everyone does now. Refurbish the old furniture with something solid and without a plastic, shabby veneer. Get rid of the cushy chairs that just feel hard to clean and keep clean. Same with the drapes. Oh, and the outlets? All are wobbly and old. One bedside lamp didnāt even work. (p.s. also, remember to give people back their photo ID ā if I hadnāt brought my passport, I wouldāve been really screwed at the airport that next morning !!)
