Not Exactly Your Grandpa's Cabin

Hmmm ... Well it seemed to be a good idea and David seemed like a good guy on the phone. However, the dishes and silverware were dirty. First mug out of the cabinet had coffee rings on the inside, dried food on the plates and forks. Used/dirty wash clothes hanging on the shower. I questioned the sheets. Spider haven. I killed about 7-8 large ones. These guys had been there awhile. A mouse was running around, actually stole my coffee scoop. BTW, it's BYOCS, Coffee Supplies, no coffee maker. And the mini split AC in the bedroom did not work. I relayed this info the 2nd day. Someone came over late in the AM the day before my check-out, I stayed 4 nights. Never was repaired so afternoons were pretty toasty in there. FYI a very small/old window unit in the kitchen works but that doesn't cool the bedroom whatsoever. There is a floor fan that helps. Ceiling fan, no dice. Might be nice if they made the river below accessible, fairly overgrown and I'd say the cabins have a deferred maintenance issue, not how I'd keep my property but hey that's just me. It was quiet. I guess that's a plus. So this $90/night cabin is more of a $35/night experience.

Lots of potential, but majorly lacking

Fist the staff was amazing! Thatā€™s where it ended! The room was very dirty, thick dust was under the beds. The sheets had crumbs, and after about 2 mins of my daughter laying on the bed, it broke. The shower had duct tape in it to close probably a hole. Oh and itā€™s very loud due to trains, which donā€™t normally bother me, but since it was so bad, they were noticed. We would have left, but it was late pulling in and I needed some sleep after a long driving day, so we only stayed about 6 hrs then got back on the road. Not what our plan initially was!

The cabins are spotless 🧼, super cozy šŸ›Œ, and right by the river šŸŒŠ ā€” we could hear the water from our porch and it was so peaceful šŸ˜ŒšŸ’¤. Every morning, we enjoyed coffee ā˜• on the porch while watching the mist rise off the water šŸŒ«ļø🦆. Afternoons were spent exploring the riverbank šŸš¶ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¾ and evenings were all about campfires šŸ”„, sā€™mores šŸ«, and incredible stargazing āœØšŸŒŒ. Total reset for the soul ā¤ļøšŸ™. The property is beautifully maintained šŸŒ» and you can tell the owners put their heart into making sure guests feel at home šŸ”. Beautiful location right over the river, little noisy with the train coming through multiple times a night but didn't really bother me, just said it for any light sleepers out there. I will definitely be booking here again in the future! Family lives about half hour from here so it was perfect for us!

The cabin is cute and may be a good place to stay in the summer but it is NOT a good choice for winter unless some updates are made. 1. It was 8* outside and the window were not covered well. You could feel cold air blowing into the house. Thankfully, my mom packs everything and we duct taped blankets over the door and windows. 2. Both space heaters in the living room were apparently for looks and decoration because they didnt put out any heat. There was a leg broken on each one and they both kept falling over. We had to unplug them while we slept for our safety. 3. The heater worked better in the bedroom. I wish we had had more of these. When I woke up this morning and went to the living room...I could see my breath it was so cold. 4. No cooking supplies in the "kitchen". We brought food to cook so we could save money and there were two burners on the stove but NO trying pans, pots or spatulas. We wound up eating out for dinner and breakfast the next morning. There were some plates in the cabinet...but only ONE spoon! No other silverware to be found. 5. There were HUGE cobwebs in the kitchen and the blinds were very dirty. The blankets need to be tossed because they are very old. 6. Lots of broken items: the chair in the kitchen had broken legs and couldnt be use. Broken legs on the space heaters. Couch needs to be replaced. 7. Problems with the toilet flushing. It was a process to get it to flush everytime and this was with putting the toilet paper in the trash.

Weather was 25Ā°, heating was very inadequate to obtain adequate temp, very uncomfortable. Kitchen light not working, one burner of 2 burner cooktop not working, kitchenette unit - not enough plates, serving utensils, no pots and pans, etc. Bedroom - one bunkbed had one mattress support board hanging down with 2 nails sticking out. The unit walls had cracks to outside that let cold wind blow through. Bathroom has black mold ceiling and other areas. I thought Expedia reviewed their properties, but I guess not, at least not adequately. We booked for 2 nights, left after the first night and lost our money. Don't trust Expedia's property ratings. We donā€™t anymore.

When we showed up they didnā€™t even know we were coming. We got to our cabin and the foundation was broken and flooring is not level. The doors scraped the flooring creating really big scuff marks. The bunk beds looked like someone had slept in them. The pillows were dirty and there was a dirty wash rag in the bathtub. The kitchen was dirty. The microwave was broken and there were dirty dishes in the cabinet. I spoke with the owner who had no idea of the cabins condition and he had his housekeeper come the next day to put clean sheets in the bed and change out our towels the following day. The heater was broken but the owner was nice enough to provide us with a second heater. He also offered to let us stay in a camper but we chose not to move.

There was no staff or service on site and no check in procedures. Called several times and eventually got a call back and was able to check in. Cabin just looked like no one had stayed in it for years, so should have been less money.

We arrived WAY past check and the owners were SO accommodating. He even went so far as to stay on the phone with me to give turn by turn directions until i arrived.

These are very comfortable, rustic cabins for an extremely reasonable price. The cabins are very clean and cozy, with many of the guest's needs anticipated in the form of cookware, utensils and various expendable items. The cabins themselves are actually made of solid, hewn logs (which I don't see very often anymore) and very charming. The host lives in a separate building onsite and is very friendly and responsive. The Spring River is a short walk away, the covered wraparound deck is perfect for sitting outside and relaxing, and there's a fire ring and barbeque grill for kicking back outside. Stores and restaurants of various kinds are within a short drive. Basically, we enjoyed the ambiance of cabin living without sacrificing quick access to any conveniences. I strongly recommend this property.
