The apartment itself is lovely - spacious, 3 good sized bedrooms, decently comfy beds, great view, not too far from the action…it could be 5 star…. if it were owned by a chain that cared about its guests and provided the sort of stuff you’d expect in even a budget motel. There’s a coffee machine… but no coffee (or sugar or milk) and no toaster (there were 3 sachets of instant tea… for our 5 person, 8 night stay). Bizarrely, there is no hand soap provided in the bathrooms (I asked for the above. Answer was no). The floors were super dusty and there was no way to clean them and the towels were grey and thin and smelled bad. We had to use them at the pool (no extra towels provided for the pool - I asked - they said the best they could do was swap them out the next day.. they didn’t). They did deliver a mop and broom and suggested I clean the floors myself. There’s a washing machine, so I decided to also wash the towels. Too late I realised: no dryer or clothes airer to hang wet laundry on. Also, just 2 small towel rails in the whole apartment… an apartment that’s meant to sleep 6 people! I contacted Stayla and asked if there was a clothes airer available… their answer was “no - just hang it in the living room” (instead of providing a $12 clothes airer, they’d rather have wet laundry on their fabric couches!)
Quick note: If you have small kids, beware: the window in the kids room opens enough for them to fall to their death. It’s also a noisy neighbourhood. Pack earplugs!
