Daxi Old Street is a visual delight for fans and students of architecture. Formed during the period of Japanese occupation from 1895 to 1945, the shops along Daxi Old Street feature a stunning Japanese baroque style with intricate carvings. There’s also a mixture of other design elements, from Roman pillars to Chinese-style fish and bats, and they’re worth photographing.
Another popular attraction along the street is the Daxi Bridge, also known as Lover’s Bridge, which is a suspension footbridge that was originally built in 1934. It’s especially beautiful at night. Where sculptures blend in with the local landscape

Also known as Fuxing Park, the gorgeous Jiaobanshan Park can be found on the southwest side of Mt. Jiaoban. In 2003, the Taoyuan city government invited 12 well-known sculptors to create public art for a sculpture park, and the results are a collection of incredible works that blend in seamlessly with the local landscape.
Trees are also a major draw for the park, as its dozens of maples turn red in fall, and plum trees create a sea of pink during their blossom season. Two banyan trees were planted in 1950, and over the past several decades the branches of the “Embracing Couple” have become entangled, adding to the magical scenery of Jiaobanshan Park.

Historical lighthouse dating to 1901
Ideal para: Foto, Econômico, História
The Baishajia Lighthouse, or Paisha Chia Lighthouse as it’s also known, has a rich history. Construction was completed in 1901 under Japanese rule but the upper half of the lighthouse was damaged during World War II, and repairs to the structure were completed in 1946.
The bright, white 5-story building consists of a foundation, tower, and lantern and makes a fantastic sight on the skyline. It was opened to the public in 2013, and a guide room inside provides insight into the lighthouse’s history. Named one of 100 Historical Buildings of Taiwan by the Council of Cultural Affairs, Baishajia Lighthouse also boasts a circular walkway, park and a playground so it’s easy to spend a lovely afternoon here.

Spectacular views of the Dahan River Valley
Ideal para: Foto, Aventura, Viagens alternativas
Though the original Xikou Suspension Bridge was constructed more than 40 years ago, the slender bridge that stands there now was built in 2018. Spanning the beautiful Dahan River, the bridge is more than 300 metres in length and towers 23 metres above the water. Stand on this architectural marvel and you’ll be rewarded with the breathtaking view of the river and its surrounding mountains.
Most people access the Xikou Suspension Bridge from the Jiaobanshan Park side but be aware that access to the bridge is a bit of a hike and might not be suitable for everyone. Note that only 100 people at a time are allowed on the bridge as it is quite narrow.
