Home of fascinating mosaic floors

Ideal para: História, Foto, Viagens alternativas

The Pesaro Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, was built atop the remains of a basilica from the 5th century. This gorgeous Cathedral is thus a point of archaeological interest. The remains of the old church are interesting, but the building that stands today is quite marvellous, too.

Built in the Middle Ages, the architecture has Romanesque and Gothic touches. The shining attraction, though, are the mosaic floors, contained behind plexiglass, which are made more visible via coin-operated floodlights. To learn more about the Cathedral’s history, visit the nearby Diocesan Museum.
