It was over 30°C outside, and I paid more than €320 for a single night at this hotel. Despite that, we were given a room on the top floor under the roof, which was almost impossible to rest in because of the heat.
The staff could clearly see the weather conditions, yet no one even offered us another room. I genuinely wonder whether any member of the staff has ever tried spending a night in that room under such conditions :) :).
In the evening, we had to go outside just to get some fresh air because staying in the room was unbearable. From a hotel of this standard, you expect not only a beautiful historic building but also basic care for its guests. If the staff know that certain rooms become almost uninhabitable during hot weather, the professional thing to do would be to offer a different room or at least try to find a solution.
The biggest disappointment was not the heat itself but the staff's attitude just polite smiles while acting as if everything was perfectly normal. That is very difficult to understand.
In the end, we left and after checked go to another historic manor hotel just a few dozen kilometres away. Despite being a similar historic property, it was comfortable, and the staff were professional and genuinely cared about their guests.
It is a real shame because the hotel itself is beautiful, but for this price I expected a completely different level of comfort and service.
