We go to Santa Cruz often and we always stay at the Best Western Suites Hotel and are always very satisfied. This time, however, there were some problems. First, the room smelled of smoke, not terribly (we would have switched rooms if it did), but it did have a tobacco odor. Second, the closet door was very hard to close, it took a lot of work to get it to close. Third, the switch on the AC was broken and we had to unplug it to turn it off. Lastly, the jets in the bathtub shut off by themselves while the timer was still going. We told the desk about these items when we checked out.

Nice, mid-range hotels are scarce in Santa Cruz and the service & room were very good here. The mini-king suite was not the best design, since an otherwise spacious room gets a bit split up (the full suites looked nice). I love the ability to open the window and get fresh Santa Cruz air (really). The outdoor hot tub was popular with guests but not hot enough for us. We didn't try the breakfast, though it looked better than average. The main issue was that we had to have the window closed to sleep b/c traffic noise at that busy intersection is significant (and to further complicate issues the fan/heat/cool unit had only two fan settings loud and still pretty loud (labeled high and low).

Our stay at this hotel was disappointing. Our air conditioner didn't work, so it was hot. The jacuzzi in the bathtub didn't work. The pull out bed was extremely uncomfortable. We were told that there would be eggs available at breakfast, but there was not. The location was good, and the room was clean.

Very nice spacious rooms. Nice breakfast included. Parking situation was horrendous. Parking spaces are tight. Many guests will crowd the adjacent line to give selves more space on opposite side. Pulled into a spot, but had to pull out. Couldn't open doors. Other rude guests park in middle of two spots, leaving no parking for others. Took us over 30 minutes after arriving one evening to finally figure out how to squeeze into a tiny spot and still get doors open on one side.

I ws in the area for two shows, and Best Western Ocean St in Santa Cruz made the stree of the shows fade away when my head finally hit the pillow. Well worth staying here when in the Montery and Santa Cruz area's.

Our group had two "suites" at the Best Western. Ours was just a normal size room and not a suite-sized room, did not have a frig, and not everything worked in our room. The other couple in our group had a suite-sized room with frig but the window looked out on a brick wall about 10 feet away. So all rooms are not equal at the Best Western in Santa Cruz. Otherwise, the hotel was clean, good breakfast, and relatively quiet.

Best Western All Suite Inn was an overall great experience. The room was spacious. The beds were very comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay.

The hotel was clean and well-maintained. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was beautiful with a nice shower.

The only reason why I would recommend this hotel is the fact that it is a suite with two separate rooms...no door to separate, but a privacy wall. This was nice because we have an one year old and a four year old. Getting them to bed was easy. Besides that, it was dirty. Not just the rooms but the whole grounds. Our first room smelled like a 20 year old ashtray, even though it was considered "non smoking" and there was NO windows at all. We were moved the next day to a room that smelt nicer and had two sky lights...one right over the beds. The neighborhood was not so nice. Staff was super nice. The breakfast was great. For the price, you really just got to go with it. Plus, the dumpiest hotels in Santa Cruz were going for way more.

The room was great, but the bathtub needed to be cleaned a little more.

At first I was not excited about the hotel, but the accomodations were clean. It is a litte far from "atmosphere" but very convenient from the freeway. Very good and convenient continental breakfast. The price was great.

I expected "All Suites" to mean two rooms. It meant a half wall between the sitting area and sleeping area. Most Best Western Hotels have had good breakfasts. This one had no protein (without sugar) or any fresh fruit.

i was traveling with an infant and they were able to help withour needs to make our stay comfortable the staff was great and very friendly

Almost no available parking and almost impossible to get a full size truck or S.U.V. around the parking garage let alone into one of the few tiny spots that there are. The skylight in the room is a brilliant idea if you want to be woken by the dawn light. Our room and many others were part of an indoor courtyard which was also the lobby/reception area. Ingenious hotel design for those wishing to hear all the foot traffic through the hotel all night and to listen to the early risers eat their breakfast outside your room.

We only stayed for one night because of a concert we were attending in Santa Cruz but the manager hooked us up with the best room in the hotel: Living space, separate room with 2 queen beds and even a balcony. The room was very clean upon arrival. The hotel was very quiet and mellow for a weekend. Loved our stay. Definitely be back. By the way, the manager is awesome!!!

Enjoyed the Continental breakfast and room size, but bathroom needs detailing and new carpet throughout. Front desk was stingy with giving me extra towels too.

For money paid expected a little more. In general just okay.

The Hotel is not really near the boardwalk...they say it's a 10 min walk, but really a 45min walk. The reason why i chose this Hotel is because it was at the time a bit more affordable than the nicer hotels around the area, but instead it became more expensive. Though Hotels.com do not charge for extra guest, when I arrived there, I was charged for having 2 others with me. I explained to the manager that i had no idea about the extra charges and would like to have a refund so I could stay at the other hotel..(which was nicer, and wouldn't have a problem with having 2 guests staying with me.) He smiled like a jerk and said it was too late, you've already booked through hotels.com. Extra guest is not the only charge that they do. If you don't return their room CARD Key, they would charge you a fee for that too. I was there for work, and have stayed at over 40 different hotels so far using hotels.com This is the first hotel that has given me problems. Overall: poor experience.

They gave us a room that is about 10 feet from front desk and breakfast area, so we could hear a lot of activity. Our room was missing the refrigerator and a cord for the phone (didn't matter because we had cell phones). I've stayed at better hotels for the price.

Hotel is a bit out of date (pink carpet, seriously?). However, room was very comfortable and had a jacuzzi tub. Continental breakfast was satisfying, however, more than most competitors offer.

I asked for a smoking room and was given a nonsmoking room, when I asked to have the room I booked they said all the smoking was full, so I didn't get what I paid for. Then the parking was horrible. There is only a small lot under the hotel for parking. There were many larger SUV taking up 2 spaces and the staff didn't care. Unfriendly staff and horrible parking don't waste your money or your time.

Enjoyed the stay, the room, and the staff. Watch out for the breakfast however. In my opinion it is not a "full" breakfast and the food is absolutely awful.

When booking this recent trip, we were surprised to find that the rates in Santa Cruz exceeded those of Monterey. So, we felt the rate should have been lower for these accommodations. One very good feature of these accommodations was the much better than usual breakfast. Full sausage, egg, hash browns offered, and my husband enjoyed all those. But I loved the waffles. Really better than any I've had! I did wish that checkout time had been Noon, not 11:00 am.

the rooms are decently sized and comfortable. i'm guessing because it's a college town they make you sign some thing saying that you won't have a party in the room. the one minus - we showed up aroudn 2 and asked if we could check in and were given a key to the room. What they didn't mention was that it had not yet been cleaned.

We stayed one night. We arrived early and wanted to check in early and they had a room avaliable which was great. Our room did not have a very good view. Outside the window was a brown wall. Other than that it was great. Clean, friendly staff and a great location.

The original room had no pull out couch which we needed since we were traveling with our son. My husband asked for a change of room and we are glad that we did. We got one on the less busier side of the hotel/street so it made it much quieter and not much foot traffic from other occupants. The bathroom looked like it had recently been redone since it had nice tiles on the floor and granite like walls in the tub. The water pressure wasn't as great, but it got the job done. We loved their breakfast especially their make your own waffles. The staff was also very polite. Overall for the price we paid we can't complain.

The room itself was great--with the suite. The cleanliness in the halls and on the stiarcases was lacking. Overall decor was a little dated--but--for the price--it was great. Free parking too!

Rooms were nice and big. Clean and well appointed. great room for the money. Enough room for 4 full sized adults.

The room was very spacious and comfortable. This is a great place for families with children. The breakfast was pretty basic, but we all found something we liked. I would definitely stay here again.

The front desk guy was very friendly. Our first room was a bit noisy being right on a main street so he happily changed our room. Great location.

This hotel was a great deal in comparison to the other hotels in the area. The only thing that was a disappointment is that they call it an "all suites" hotel, and we booked the cheapest suite only to find it isn't really a suite, at least by my definition of a suite. In the photos, there was a separate sitting area and couch, but in our "suite," there was only one small room with two chairs, a television, mini fridge, and microwave. While the microwave and fridge were convenient, I was expecting to have a couch for my toddler to sleep on. We pushed the two chairs together and it worked, but it would not work for a larger child. The hotel staff is minimal, so it is by no means a full-service hotel, but the front desk staff were very helpful. We were also pleasantly surprised to find that there was a jacuzzi at the hotel, since we didn't expect that.

I got a room with a window that was blocked by a wall. In summary, a room without a window! I asked them to give me another room. They would not, although the hotel was almost empty. They cited policy and other things. I was very disappointed. Parking spaces were very narrow for SUVs.

THE GOOD: The rooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable with updated bathrooms (granite, pedestal sinks). A continental breakfast is available with a nice waffle maker and basic breakfast items. All of the staff we met were friendly, courteous, and helpful. THE BAD: Most of these items are minor, but here's what we noticed: The pink carpet in the lobby is an eyesore in what could otherwise be a nice space (neutral carpet would be so much better) -- this is the first impression we had when walking in to the hotel. The bare metal stairs to the third floor that look like they were once carpeted seemed to show a lack of investment in the upkeep of the hotel. The hotel binders (outdated?) in the rooms say that the continental breakfast is available until 10, but it closes down at 9:30 am. There is very little shelf space in the bathroom to unpack toiletries or place clothes.
