I love this inn! This is the only place I ever stay when traveling to Detroit. I've never had a complaint until now. The inn is completely Smoke Free, but a guest on our floor insisted on smoking in their room. The entire hall reeked of cigarette smoke both mornings, and one evening of our stay. 2 complaints were lodged at the front desk, but the smell persisted. I have a severe allergy to cigarette smoke, and really needed management's assistance, but it was not received. I was disappointed, but will give them another chance.

The Inn on Ferry Street was wonderful. The buildings and furnishings, including a king-sized sleigh bed, and were elegant and heavenly. The breakfast was delicious and staff gracious. Tip for late evening, first-time arrivals ... you enter the drive flanked by the two gold-glow lights, park in the back lot, and enter the Scott House, which has a wooden handicap access ramp to the back door. Registration is in the house's front entryway. I look forward to staying here again and again.

My girlfriend and I spent 6 days at the Inn on Ferry Street and had just an incredibly wonderful experience! Upon Check-in, we were greeted warmly and offered complimetary tea/Starbucks coffee (that is available 24 hous a day to guests.) Our check-in was handled expeditiously. Upon getting to our room, my girlfiend and I were like..."WOW"...truly beautiful in every detail. Before going further, I should say that elderly or infirm travelers should ask for a 1st floor room. Our room was on the top (3rd) floor of the Pungs house. As there is no elevator, this involved going up and down 3 flights of stairs (with luggage at check-in/out.) I noticed a handicap lift outside an adjacent house, so accomadations can be made for the challenged travler. The room was bright and cheery, painted in a soft yellow throughout. Windows were plentiful on two walls, allowing for ample sunshine and cross ventilation (we never had to use the air conditioning during our stay.) Upon arrival, the weary travler is greeted with complimentary cookies (Otis Spunkmeyer) and two bottles of spring water. The main bedroom is done in a "sophisticated beach house" motif...beautiful, yet comfortable! There is a variety of (musical) CDs provided for listening pleasure, as well as a 32" TV with HBO. A writing desk, as well as two plush chairs are also provided. The furniture is white in color, giving the room a relaxing feel. There is a walk in closet, that easily provided room for six days worth of luggage (alot) as well as places to hang garmets, iron/board, hair dryer and extra blankets etc. The bathroom is a beautiful blue and provides a wonderful collection of toiletries, including soap, shampoo, conditioner, skin lotion etc. The shower was nice and relaxing. There was an additional changing area in our room with mirror, table, coffee maker (and tea.) The room was actually more like a small flat or suite. It was incredibly cozy and comfortable! We hated to leave it in fact, and worked time into our

My husband and I stayed at the Inn to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. We live in the Detroit Metro area and wanted to get away from home without going too far. The Inn was perfect for this. I have stayed at many B&Bs in my 8 years living in Europe and found the Inn to be very comfortable in comparison, yet not as economical. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay, though we do have some criticisms: the room was not dark enough at night, the bed was a little too firm for our preference, and a few bath rugs would have been nice on the tile floor. I can understand how others complained of noise, the historic homes have hardwood floors that creak! Great attractions and restaurants are within walking distance. We enjoyed dinner and drinks at the Circa 1890 Saloon and Lefty's sports bar. We might make this combination a yearly event!

We were in town for a baseball game, and needed a convenient hotel for a few nights in Detroit. The Inn on Ferry Street is lovely; the rooms were spacious and had a historical flair without being stuffy. The bathroom was large and clean. There are great perks like a free shuttle, free parking, complimentary newspaper, cookies, and bottled water. We did not try the breakfast, but it looked pretty good. The shuttle service was prompt and safe, and I would stay there again the next time I visit Detroit.

I was very pleased with my stay at the Inn on Ferry Street. The staff make you feel welcome. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms had everything I needed for my three-night stay. There is a shuttle bus service that will take you anywhere within a 5-mile radius. I took the shuttle to the Motown Museum (definitely see it) and the museum staff called the hotel for me for a shuttle pick up at the museum after the tour. The driver does appreciate tips. A wide variety of foods are served at breakfast. There are some good restaurants near the hotel. The Detroit Historical Museum and the Art Institute are within walking distance. The downtown area is not that far, but I would drive or ask for shuttle service. My only complaint was that the glasses and my coffee mug in my room were not replaced with clean ones after the first night. I'm sure it was just overlooked by the cleaning crew, since I did get clean ones after the second night. Overall, this was a great place to stay and I would definitely stay there again the next time I am in Detroit.

I always book at this hotel whenever I visit Detroit. Each time, I've gotten a different room in a different building and have been very pleased. This time, the hotel exceeded my expectations. I got a great deal on hotels.com, but the room was large enough to have two teenage twin boys, whom I was visiting for their birthday, hang out without it feeling too crowded. The bathroom also had a jet tub, which was well needed and appreciated. The only issue was the cable wasn't coming in very well for a few days. But we still managed to entertain ourselves, so it was a minor thing. Food was plentiful and so were the chocolates. Yum!

Loved our stay at IOFS. Room was gorgeous...nice touches like CD's and cookies, fancy soap and lotion all made my business trip feel more like a mini-vacation. The only small annoyance was the heat - kinda hot at night but we just pulled the window open a crack and all was well. this was our second time visiting the Inn from the northern suburbs. Both time we have stayed in conjunction with an event, this time, Wicked. The staff is friendly and accomodating, the rooms unique, well appointed and the breakfast tasty. My wife and I ask ourselves, why would you stay in a box stacked high when you could experience a place like this? Probably, because you didn't know about the Inn on Ferry Street! If life takes you to Detroit, you must choose the Inn on Ferry Street as a place to lay your head. I have never experienced such a unique experience on American soil. Each guest room is unique having a Bed and Breakfast feel. The breakfast that comes with your room is excellent including make your own waffles. It isn't just cold cereal and juice. It still has modern conveniences such as a free shuttle service and free Wi-Fi. Is it all too good to be true? Of course not, the water pressure was horrible! Don't expect to take a refreshing shower but with all the other positives I could deal with it.

Because we were traveling by Amtrak, we arrived in Detroit at 7:30 AM. The desk manager at the Inn on Ferry Street not only let us check in early but invited us to have breakfast after we got our bags to our room. The inn is beautifully decorated, the staff outstanding, and the the shuttle is wonderfully convenient. Everything was so delightful it seems to be nit picking to complain but the one thing they did not provide was grab bars in the bath/shower. We wouldn't stay anywhere else if we travel to Detroit and have already recommended it to our friends.

They have a really nice staff. It was really nice to come in late and be greeted by a friendly lady in a quaint, very charming setting. I had high hopes, it was recommended by locals. I was on a business trip and I thought, "What the heck. I'm on a business trip and I know what the chains offer. Why not try something local?" I'm going to start off with the pros. Lovely people, beautiful grounds, beautiful buildings. I bet the romantic getaway packages are great. The hotel has great charm, I wish I could have tried the breakfast. The Inn looks like it would offer a great experience for those who are looking to spend some time relaxing. And the shampoo/conditioner/lotion/soap are the best I've tried in my years of business travel. Unfortunately, I was on a business trip, looking for a few hours of zzzzzz. Honestly, I'm a business traveler that just wants dark and quiet with cable and Wi-Fi and they did have great, free Wi-Fi. Maybe I just stayed in a bad room at an inconvenient time of year. My room was on the third floor, lots of stairs to climb if you are carrying a lot of luggage or are older. There was a cold spell in early fall and the room was freezing. You couldn't adjust the heat to your room, so I pulled out the space heater located in the closet. The bathroom floor was icy, didn't help without a floor mat or big floor towel. The heat finally came on during the night, made a ton of noise and it went from freezing to hot to freezing all night long. The walls were thin and you could hear the couple coming in next door at midnight, which was annoying because I was counting my hours that night. The TV was in a beautiful, antique hutch to the right of the bed, you could only watch it from the lounge chair next to the t.v. Good cable though, but I know people are not going there for the television. Bad placing, but the hutch was a nice touch. There are no darkening curtains, light comes in early morning. One more thing.... the shower curtain in the bathroom was so

While we were not impressed with Downtown Detroit, the Inn on Ferry Street definitely made our weekend trip worthwhile. The location is in a safe neighborhood - very historical and right in the middle of Wayne State University. At check-in, the staff greets you with a bottle of water and a warm cookie for everyone in your party. What sold us is the breakfast. Breakfast is included in the cost of the room. The staff goes all out... fresh waffles, fresh fruit, eggs with all the toppings, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal...you name it, they have it. I would go back for the breakfast alone! If you are not able to climb stairs, please mention that at check-in. These are historical homes and there are not elevators. The bottom floor rooms were handicap accessible. Parking is complimentary and is located in a fenced-in area behind the homes. What was also nice was the free shuttle that provides rides within a 5-mile range. While you are expected to tip the driver, a tip was much less expensive than paying parking downtown for a Tigers game. The shuttle ran until 4AM on the weekends too! I would highly recommend the Inn on Ferry Street to someone who was visiting the Detroit area.
