The hotel rooms and lobby are very lovely. My only complaint was the water for the shower. Both days of our stay the water was only tepid at best. While I'm sure the temperature of the water may be controlled to keep people from getting burned, the showers were really TOO cold.

A friend and I stayed here while attending a conference. The hotel was not only lovely, comfortable and very clean, but the convenience to walk to our conference site was an added plus! I would highly recommend other guests try the Doubletree Hotel!

Very beautiful, clean hotel and great location for downtown attractions. We were only nine blocks from the House of Blues and went to a great show there. The shuttle service was lacking, however. The night of the show it was raining and the girls did not want to walk. So I called the desk and they said 8pm the driver would be ready. We waiting outside for 20 minutes, and the head valet refused to pay for us a taxi. We were late to the show. The good news is the next day, the front office manager comp'ed our valet charges for the stay, a considerable savings. After that was handled the way she did, I will definitely stay there again and recommend this hotel.

The hotel was great, especially considering how inexpensive it was compared to other downtown hotels. They have a complimentary shuttle that will take you anywhere in the downtown area and come pick you up. Valet is the only option for parking, and they charge for it, so be sure to factor that into your budget. The only problem we has with the service was room service. It took several tries to get to someone to take our order, and then they forgot/messed up a few things, so the food was cold by the time we had everything. It was good though.

Service Staff could not have been better. Restaurant was very good. Restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. Valet were helpful and prompt. Directions by the front desk were very helpful. My only complaints regard the overall cleanliness: Bed Linens were stained on one side of the bed. Long black hairs where in several locations in the bathroom. Hallway did not smell very good.

The staff was very helpful and found out the times for a ballgame we were going to had changed. Let us know and got us a shuttle immediately. Very accommodating.

The beds and the cookies cannot be beat at the Double Tree, & the Houston location did not disappoint. The room was very comfortable & the staff was very helpful. My only complaint is that the middle elevator on the main floor was under construction & it was difficult to locate and access the only button. Signage would have been helpful. Otherwise, great stay & would definitely stay again.

This hotel has been around for a while and it is pretty noticeable in the guests rooms. The bathrooms have drop down foam tile ceilings that are browning due to water damage from the shower. The rest of the room is nice and the beds are very comfortable. For the price you can't get a better nights rest.

While I enjoyed my stay at the Doubletree Downtown, I was annoyed with the lack of parking for anyone who wanted to visit me. I did not feel the need to ask them to pay $23 some odd dollars for an hour visit. I also believe that with the amount of money I paid for my room, breakfast should have been included.

I forgot a very sentimental valued belonging. I called the Hotel after I left town. They found it, and mailed to my address. It was very Caring of the staff to do so. The hotel was Nice, and it was close to what I needed around the area. The VALET was Outstanding, and their Cookies are "To Die For"

One of the soda machine ate my money and I went to the front desk and the receptionist did not argue, she went and gave me a soda to refund what I lost in the machine. The overall ambiance was great.

The hotel is very nice, clean and located well. However, I had the unfourtnate event of getting stuck in the elevator for over 1 hour due to a malfunction. Once the fire department got me out, I did not recieve one single apollogy from the hotel. I was simply asked what happend and not even told sorry for the inconvience. It was as if they did not care about me but about the elevator doors. The Fire department needed to pry and damage them to get me out. The hotel wanted to wait 2 hours for a on call elevator engineer to arrive!

We had a wonderful stay! The cookies were awesome! The service at the front desk and concierge desk was great! They shuttled us to where we wanted to go and the wait time was minimal. We ate at the hotel resturant for breakfast and dinner. The food and service was great and we found they were reasonably priced. Our rooms were very comfortable! The curtain blocked out the morning sun, the bed and pillows were just right - I could have slept all day!

My family and I loved our stay. We stayed in the "king corner" with floor to ceiling windows. My 17 month old loved the view. It was a fairly big room. The valet was great! We were able to pick our car up any time we wanted without any extra charges. Also the shuttle was awesome! It took us to the baseball game, and after a nice restruant. This is a great place to stay!!

At check in at the time of 2:30 am Saturday morning there was this rep name Ian would did not provide the customer service I would expect from a hotel of this caliber. I paid for a double room and he tried to give me a room with one bed and bring in a roller bed. He handle the situation terrible, I paid for what I needed not a one room bed. To make a long story short his manager was able to find me a room to accomodate what I paid for, why he couldn't do it I am not sure. But planning on going back to visit Houston soon, and the only reason I wouldn't stay there is solely based on the way he treated me and my guest...

Our stay was pleasant except for the fact that we asked for a non-smoking room and our room STUNK of smoke. It had a non-smoking sign but the room smelled terrible. The only reason we didn't ask to change rooms was because we were in huge hurry, but honestly it smelled like someone lit a cigarette right before we arrived!

Unfortunately, my weekend getaway turned into a nightmare because my husband became ill and we spent the entire weekend in and out of the emergency ward at a nearby hospital however, the staff at the Double Tree were outstanding! In the middle of night they took us by shuttle to the emergency room and offered to pick us up at any time. When I called at 3:00 am they were there instantly and even took us to a pharmacy to fill prescriptions. The hotel only offers valet parking but they knew my situation and kept my car in a VIP parking area incase we needed to get out right away. They obviously communicate well - their entire staff asked daily how my husband's comdition was and asked if they could help in any way. They made a horrible situation a lot more bearable!

At first glance the hotel is fabulous but the little details need improving. For example in my room most of the outlets didn't work. The lamps had extra outlets built in but the actual cord to the lamp would not stay in the wall outlet so not only could we not use the lamps, we also could not plug in any of our electrical items. There was a huge orange extention cord plugged in behind the dresser that the t.v and coffee maker was plugged into. The extension cord was an eyesore and it was something that I did not expect to see in a hotel such as the doubletree. The bed looked as soft as a cloud but the pillows were hard as was the mattress. I also expected softer sheets but they were scratchy.We were charged 50 cents to make a call to the local pizza parlor which was only 6 blocks away. We were charged $9.95 to get internet access in our room, I beleve it was free in the lobby. I have stayed at more moderate hotels/motels and the local calls were free as was the in room internet access.This was a huge disappointment. I did have a room with a good view and the room was clean as was the bathroom however I expected better quality linens and free in room internet at this hotel and no extension cords in the room!

My Husband and I loved this hotel! We've never stayed at a Doubletree before. They have a shuttle that took us AND picked us up from the Toyota Center. We didn't know that when we booked the room. They have a great staff.

I'll keep it short, while I stayed here it took over 45 minutes for any requests to be fulfilled at our room, including getting a shower cap from housekeeping, and getting our car pulled around from valet. When I called ahead to valet 10 minutes early, I came downstairs after checkout and my car was not there. When I finally received it 15 minutes later, I was told that the valet wasn't charged to my credit card and I had to pay cash right there. the valet attendant wasn't sensitive to me as somebody who was spending money at the establishment. i won't be returning.

I enjoyed staying at this hotel...the room was clean, and the ac worked great. My only problem was that the hotels.com site did not specify that ONLY valet parking is available. It was $12 plus tips for the one night I stayed there. The valet was good, I just was expecting to have another option.

Lovely hotel; located conveniently within walking distance of downtown events; walls so thin I now know the names of the two whiny children complaining about everything late into the early morning hours. Not a restful stay. Thankfully it was only the one night. As to the valet problem mentioned in earlier posts, we opted to park in the public garage diagonally across the street and wheel our own suitcases around the corner to the hotel. We were there over Friday night, so the parking was a mere $3.

I went for a birthday retreat and the room was very nice and comfortable and the chocolate chip cookies put the icing on the cake. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. Next time I would definitely pay the extra money to get a park view but I could see the sun rise from my room so it was still great.

Very nice place for the price. Great location. Staff was wonderful, wonderful, room clean nice and good views. I do wish they would roll the price for vallet/parking into the price of the room but oh well!!

Woke up to a fire alarm and had to evacuate the hotel early first morning. I understand these situations occur, but was not pleased when we were told that this happens often, because the kitchen uses steamers and they set off the alarms. This was our one day to sleep in as we were facing a rigorous volleyball tournament schedule. The offer of free breakfast buffets would have been a nice gesture, but no compensation was offered.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and it was great for staying overnight after seeing a show in the theatre district. We did have to change rooms once because of the smell of cigarette smoke. We were placed on a non-smoking floor but it was right below a smoking floor so all of the smoke smell came through the vents. After changing rooms, we were fine. Good overall.

Our stay was somewhat uncomfortable, because the remote control in the room did not work, therefore we had to get up numerous of times just to change the channel.

We waited in a long line to check in. After a long drive, my children were playing while I waited to check in. The security guard rudely stated that they needed to be sitting down in a chair not bothering anyone (which they weren't.) After we checked in, the concierge laughed at me while I was trying to manhandle luggage, three kiddos and their belongings to get to our room--never once offering to help or give us a cart. We went downstairs the next morning to catch the shuttle only for the desk to tell us they weren't running the shuttle. We then proceeded to go get our vehicle from parking and they couldn't locate it. After waiting 35 minutes for the truck, I had had enough!!!!
