2. Wray Castle

Wray Castle

Ideal para: Casais, Famílias, História, Foto, Aventura, Solteiros, Grupos

If you’re into historic buildings, you have got to visit the National Trust – Wray Castle. It is one of the most beautiful places in the Lake District! A Victorian neo-gothic building that has only recently (since 2011) been opened to the public on a regular basis. Some history – 180 years ago, a surgeon and heiress from Liverpool began building a castle that would only ever have to defend itself from the Cumbrian weather! However, it was given to the National Trust in 1929. It is evident the owners loved nature as the castle is snuggled by tall trees and flowers. Wray Castle also has another claim to fame – the author and artist of The Tales of Peter Rabbit, Beatrix Potter, stayed in the castle to celebrate her 16th birthday with her family.

It is the most popular hikes for those who hike professionally or casually! Please note, the walk can be dangerous in bad weather conditions so it’s important to take care and double check the weather before you head out. 5. Scafell Pike

Hiking

Ideal para: Casais, Famílias, História, Foto, Aventura, Solteiros, Grupos

We have saved the best for last! Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England, at an impressive 978 metres above sea level. The incline is pretty intense so your calves will be in for a burn but the surprise view of lake district at the top is well worth it. There are several paths though the most popular is to begin at Wasdale Head, to the North of Wast Water. The magnificent view is breathtaking and is a great one for the memory bank!
