Ann and the rest of her team are absolutely phenomenal. But there is no way in hell this is a four-star or five star hotel. I understand it’s Covid but they didn’t even have coffee in the entire building in the morning. Coffee. Their excuse was “we don’t have a lot of amenities”. My response was that coffee isn’t an amenity... certainly not for a hotel that on this website reports to be at least a 4 1/2 or 5 Star Place. Minuscule rooms even for NYC (even though I paid for an upgrade!!) terrible views and the only redeeming thing was the absolutely amazing staff being very apologetic. This place it’s not worth the money. But again, Ann and Team are FANTASTIC.
Stayed at hotel on NYE (12/31/2020) only because we called multiple times during the week of 12/20 before booking to ensure we would have access as hotel guests to their rooftop after their dinner service was complete (10PM). We were told each time that that would be definitely possible. When we arrived though we were told that there has been a curfew for 10pm in NYC since Nov 2020. We would not have stayed if they had disclosed this to us the previous times we inquired. The room was also missing basic amenities like hand soap and the bathrobes were not clean. Would strongly discourage staying here as either staff is grossly uninformed or dishonest in their business practices. It was not worth the money. Look elsewhere.
Great Hotel! Location and size of bedrooms was awesome 👏
Clean and new feel throughout the property. Above average size room for NYC. Great heated outdoor rooftop restaurant/bar with view of Empire State Building.
Beautiful spacious rooms. Very nice location and very kind and professional staff.
Highly recommend this hotel. Its an unique place. Enjoy!
No coffee in room or in lobby which makes you have to get dressed and go across the street for a cup off coffee
Room was larger than usual for NYC. Location was good, near lots of options with the subway. Rooftop bar was a bit pricey and the drinks mediocre. The bathroom was small and the sink incredibly clogged. Shower was good. Bed was super comfortable, remote for the TV didn’t work and when we asked for a new one, none ever showed. Not a bad place at all, but with so many options we probably would try something else next time.
The Refinery is prime midtown. My take on the place is probably unfair as Manhattan is in total fear position to Covid-19. Masks everywhere. The facility itself is in great shape and well maintained, but nothing at the Refinery is open, aside from the badass rooftop bar. Hot spot with the younger crowd and rightfully so. I had little contact with the Refinery staff as they were planted behind the plexiglass-protected front desk. Very professional and appreciative that I was there, but N.Y. just won’t let hospitality take care of its customers. That being said, I would stay again when NYC has its nut sack stitched back on.
Great location. Charming property. However, service and staff were lackluster. Upon check-in, we were left waiting in the lobby for 15 minutes without anyone around or even an explanation or apology. We were not informed much about the hotel or restrictions. The next day when we were expecting room cleaning, we were told that house keeping services needed to be scheduled beforehand. That part was tough as we had to go 3 days without fresh towels, etc. What's frustrating is that no one informed us of this at check in. We were essentially in the dark. Times are tough with this shut down, but that doesn't mean we should forget about service and hospitality. Hopefully, things get better.
