I stayed at the Mantra on my way in and out of Melbourne a few days apart. Most staff went out of their way to be lovely and helpful, one who checked me in on my trip home gave the impression they’d rather be anywhere else - rough day perhaps.
The buffet brekky was good, standard choices, well presented, spotless restaurant area. The first room was spotless, the room on my way back home hadn’t been cleaned to the same standard. Room service food could have been better - was overpriced, almost cold and few choices for food intolerances but that’s pretty normal with most hotels - next time I’ll just order uber eats. Toiletries were minimal but nice quality, some bottles were unfortunately empty (the style that are fixed to the wall), I had my own so didn’t worry about calling to have them refilled either time. The courtesy bus was efficient, drivers were friendly and it was available 24/7, although difficult to find if you don’t know the airport well.
Will I stay again? Probably. For the price it’s a decent hotel, refurbed nicely and good location for a quick overnight stay pre flight, just lacked a few little details that would make it more comfortable.
