India Gate is Delhi’s Arc de Triomphe, a 42-metre-tall grand arch memorialising the Indian soldiers who died in the First World War. Most nights of the year, Delhi’s monumental Red Fort hosts a 1-hour spectacle called the Sound and Light Show. A dramatic retelling of 300 years of Indian history enacted with dancers, warriors and puppets, the performance offers more than its modest name implies. Sound and light accentuate captivating stories of Mughal emperors and Indian Independence fighters, all narrated by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
