Entering the museum, visitors are transported to a bustling streetscape complete with a railway station, blacksmith shop, general store and some 30 other buildings furnished with period- appropriate artefacts. Other exhibits feature automobiles and agricultural machinery, and Saskatoon history including that of the indigenous Whitecap Dakota Nation.

The Saskatoon outpost was the first of these museums, established in 1941 by the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada. Highlights include the 1956 de Havilland Chipmunk, significant for its role in aviation training, and the popular civilian aircraft ‘Lynda Jean’.
Kids will love being able to climb into an old helicopter and try out a flight simulator while adults will love seeing the airframes currently undergoing meticulous restoration. The museum’s knowledgeable staff truly has a passion for these aircrafts and will gladly give one-on-one tours of the collection.

Built in 1884, the dwelling not only reflects early settler life but also played a pivotal role during the Northwest Resistance of 1885, serving as a field hospital. The story of the community is told through a collection of household objects, brought to life by volunteer tour guides. The museum is open only at certain times of the year, so check the website or call to make an appointment.
