"We loved staying in Gora! Highly recommend venturing to this part of Japan! The Open Art Museum was easy to get to and a treat! We truly enjoyed the onsen, sauna and cold plunge, adding a spa like experience to our stay. Overall a very relaxing visit."

"Very nice private onsen. Very peaceful at night. Offers transport from a few location only. Kowakien and Gora station. Small and intimate establishment. Super good food!"

"An ideally situated hotel for a 3 or 4 day visit to the Hakone area. Situated right by the stations and bus stops of Gora. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food at dinner and breakfast was very good. Our beds were placed on a plinth, so not so easy to get into bed (we're in our 70's) but very comfortable."

"The most amazing stay in Hakone! It truly felt like a retreat and wished I would have stayed an extra night. We rented a car during our stay and it was easy to navigate from hotel to the lake. Room was huge and had everything we could have ever needed. Onsen was great and the balcony view was absolutely beautiful. Will definitely be back!!"

"Amazing stay at Gora haraku. What a beautiful place with very nice staff"

"We really loved this place with incredible people. Breakfast and dinner included and wow, what a surprise with the omakase style service. The room had hot spring water onsen bath. Highly recommended."

"Hakone Retreat is a gorgeous getaway with a wonderful staff that is always available to assist you. We stayed in one of the private onsen villas, room 3, and it was absolutely everything we could dream of. The hours of operation for the entire property take a little getting used to (the cafe, the lounge and woodside restaurant) but we figured it our and had a fantastic, relaxing time."
