This is a first class hotel, very well located with a nice view. Sevice and food are excelent. Rooms are very clean and with a certain degree of luxus. I do recomend it for a couple! Not a good benefit/cost if bringing the entire family”

The Grand Hotel Excelsior du Lac is charming hotel with confortable rooms, some of wich have a beautiful view of the lake in Montreux. Rooms are spacious and clean. The atmosfere of the hotel brings you back to the 1950's. The rooms facing the lake have balconies and are by far the best option, even being much more expensive. Avoid the rooms in the back of the hotel as they face a fairly busy railway and tend to be noisy at night. The hotel is located a bit far from the main station and the city center, but close enough for a walk if you do not have luggage. Public transportation is available very close to the hotel. As many other hotels in Switzerland this one is overpriced and has a minimum staff at work. Do not get surprised if you find the reception empty.”
