Susan's Cottages - Alexandria

Susan's Cottages are very clean and private. The cottages are close enough to town to do what you need to do and far enough to enjoy the peaceful country. The rooms are beautifully decorated, better than any hotel. Look forward to going back. Thanks.

Susan's Cottages are the best get away rooms that I experienced so far, the details in the room are phenomenal and the location is far enough to have a romantic weekend

We were in Alexandria for a work-related event and decided to stay overnight rather than drive back to Baton Rouge that same day. We stayed in the Sweetheart Room, one of two rooms in the Carriage House. Since the other room was not booked, we had complete privacy. The room included a kitchen area, with table and china cabinet with dishes, a sitting […] area with loveseat and table, and both a shower and a whirlpool bath. It was a clean and comfortable and well-maintained as the website suggests, with high-quality bedding and towels. The location is ideal for a get-away weekend -- far enough outside of Alexandria to be quiet and charming, but close enough to run in to town for any little thing you've forgotten. The property is on Bayou Rapides, and includes ducks and geese swimming among the lilypads and a small herd of goats next-door. The television is a tiny, old model, but who goes away on a romantic weekend to watch t.v.? We had a couple of minor complaints. We had a reservation, yet the office was locked when we arrived. After waiting about 10 minutes for someone to arrive, I called the number on the reservation I had printed out. Susan answered and explained that she had been called away unexpectedly and told us that the key was in our door. I appreciate that she would not want to leave that information on a note on the door, but some kind of indication that we should call her would have been appropriate. As others have said, the quality of the "continental" breakfast is somewhat lacking. We found two biscuits and two muffins under a glass dome when we arrived, which means that they were at least a day old when we ate them the next morning. They were fine, but nothing unusual. There was also a selection of instant "fruit and creme" oats and instant grits, as well as fruit juices in the fridge, and packaged hot cocoa mix. We were happy with the location and the room itself. Everything was very clean and it was so peaceful. We can't wait to go back!

This is a wonderful out of the way place. We throughly enjoyed our visit and hope to return soon. The cottages went above and beyond our expectations and even though they were off the beaten path that is what made them so elegant and cozy. The beds were extremely comfortable and the stocked mini fridge was an added surprise. We wish we could have stayed […] longer. Leia mais
