The Summit at The Grand Sierra Resort is one of my favorite places to stay. The rooms are some of the nicest for the price that you can find in all of Nevada. I love the marble bathroom, glassed in showers, comfortable beds, large flat pannel tv as well as tv in the bathroom, and the best indiv. cup coffee maker.

The Hotel/Casino and staff were Great! The restaurants were all good with very nice prices (Except) the Sierra View restaurant do not order the biscuits and gravy the "country Gravy" is made with chicken broth and taste like crap! If you take Kids/teens, there is plenty for them to do, with the arcade, bowling, movies, pool and driving range. We found that there really is no need to leave the Hotel once you arrive. Park in Valet, check in and no worries until it's time to leave.

Avaliado por Brian de New Canaan em Dez 2, 2009
From start to finish this was a good experience and I don't think I would stay anywhere else in Reno. We used valet parking which was easy and the staff was courteous. The same goes for the bellman who brought our bags to our room. The Summit also has its own check-in desk (separate from the rest of the hotel) which had no line. (compared to the huge check-in line for the rest of the hotel) The room was quiet and clean. The bathroom was gigantic and clean. The sitting area in the suite was great for entertaining friends, having drinks, and watching football on the big screen TV. There were two conventions going on during our stay but it didn't effect the service we received at all. I was a first time gambler in the casino and the blackjack dealers were all very helpful in answering questions and making it a fun experience. Both of Charlie Palmers restaurants were great. I recommend sitting at the bar because the bartenders were amazing and the bar menu was a little more reasonable. Watching the line-dancers at Mustangs (after 10 pm) is very entertaining. We also went to a Black Crowes concert at the arena in the casino and it was an incredible place to see a concert. Not a bad seat in the house. We were a little nervous about the general admission concept but when we arrived right before showtime we simply walked down to the front of the stage and spent the whole concert 3 feet away from the band. There's a Starbucks for morning coffee too. When in Reno...shoot for The Summit.

If you are looking for an upgraded expierence, this is the call. "Condo" type rooms w/ fridge, microwave, coffee, etc. make this a comfortable stay for multi days. Big flat screen is great as well as suede couches and deluxe bedding. The only draw back is the fancy bathrooms; they feel a little cramped and were not designed that well. Towels are just stacked on the counter and high faucets splash alot of water around, but they do look nice I guess. Overall a very nice stay. Even more so w/ discount price from Hotel.com!

The room was lovely, the view awesome and overall we were very pleased. We dined in the cafe and found everything more than satisfactory and plentiful. There is enough to do at the resort, that there's really no reason to leave. The shops were worth visiting and we found the prices very reasonable. We normally stay downtown, but after this last trip, we will definitely come back to The Summit at Grand Sierra.

The room was advertised a a suite. It was a regular room with a bathroom, not a suite, I have stayed in suites before and this was definitely a suite. Did not even have a bathtub!, the coffemaker did not work. I was not pleased. It seems that the "Summit" rooms have been bought and refurnished by a large corporation who then use them like condos-for lease, by the week etc. The lower floors of the hotel contain rooms that still have the old furniture. However they are all the same size. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays the pool closes to children at 8 o:clock because of a pool party with music. The slots were not loose, I had better luck downtown, Also because I booked with Hotels.com I did not receive the gaming coupons. I also had to wait until about 5 p.m. to check into the room because it was not ready, the advertised checkin a 3 p.m. Save your money stay at the El Dorado, downtown.

Although the Grand Sierra Resort is not 'downtown' there is little need to go 'downtown'. Combine a trio of Charlie Palmer Restaurants with a amazing, first class collection of wines in an automated wine bar and...well...the night passed very pleasantly and quickly. My suite in the Summit was every bit as good as what you'd fine on the Las Vegas Strip at 1/3 of the price. I will be back...regularly!

Grand suite on the Other Hand. Felt like a High-Roller. TV in the bathroom. Marble & leather throughout. Great view, nice couch to entertain with. Avaliado por Stephanie de San Francisco em Jul 25, 2009
We took a 2day 1 night vacation to Reno/Lake Tahoe from San Francisco. We heard that Reno is a smaller version of Las Vegas.. and had much in mind.. but was a little disappointed to see not many hotel attractions like in Las Vegas. The Summit Sierra was a great relief for us, because we are not a big gamblers.. and we had 19year old/12 year old daughters with us. We had so much fun bowling.. watching my youngest daughter swim at The Beach (outdoor swimming pool). I didn't go, but my husband tells me that fitness and sauna is great too. If you are looking for a couple days away from your busy city lives.. and especially if you have children that you want to spend some time with, I strongly recommend the Summit Sierra. Price may seem high, but you won't be disappointed by the comfort and your children will LOVE it.

If you haven't been to Reno in the past few years you will be shocked at the change! It was not the fun city I remembered, but the Grand Sierra was beautiful. Only a short cab ride to the other casinos (if you had to leave) but not necessary because everything i wanted was at the hotel. The pool is amazing and the room was breath taking. Be sure to pay the extra money for the remodeled sumit room... the older rooms are a southwest 80's nightmare! Starbucks opened at 5am which was nice but the $6 mocha was unexpected. Overall it was amazing and i can't wait to return!

When we first walked in to the room half of the bulbs were burned out in the bathroom. A quick call to the desk and they sent some one up to replace the bulbs. At 1030 at night we went to pull out the queen sleeper and on the wood part it was written "Broken--Do not use." My kids were going to sleep on the pull-out. I tried to pull it out anyways to get the sheets off and it would not move. We called the front desk and just asked for sheets and blankets and figured the kids would sleep on the couch-not the bed. An hour later and no sheets, so I went to the front desk. They told me ALL the sofa sleepers were broken in EVERY room. HMMMMM. Should you advise anyone when booking a room for four people. They did offer a roll away and then sent sheets up to the room. So for 8 nights my 10 year old girls slept on the couch and not a bed. Everything else was great. Quick Valet and polite and the kids loved the laser tag and golf. I liked the location

Avaliado por um hóspede do hotels.com em Jul 12, 2009
The Grand Summit Resort (or GSR as they insist on calling it) is the remodeled Reno Hilton. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. There is plenty of parking and fortunately (or unfortunately during the winter) it's all uncovered. The hotel is geared more for people with kids. There's a large arcade with a cheap movie theater ($3/ticket) set well away from the casino floor. GSR also has go cart tracks and some rides at the north end of the property. It's away from the main casino area of Reno so if you want to have more than one casino to choose from, you'll have to drive somewhere else. However, being away from Virginia street means that it's significantly less crowded, especially on a concert night. All in all, if you're not in Reno to gamble, it's a reasonably priced, semi-luxurious place to stay. We'll be back again for sure.

When first entering the hotel, I noticed it didn't smell like heavy smoke like other hotels with casinos. We are so glad we got a suite at The Summit which are floors 17-27. There are express elevators that go straight to floor 17 and up. The room was so nice and clean. It comes with a fridge and microwave which is always a plus. The view was nice and the bed was comfortable. The only downside was the parking. If you get back to the hotel late, you will have to park really far unless you are one of those VIP hotel guests that get to park in the reserved close parking. Oh and you get charged a mandatory $5 fee at checkout for hotel services like the pool and gym even if you didn't use it.
