"Super 8 Downtown Austin"
The staff here is quite rude. The manager was not helpful and required me to leave a cash deposit before giving me a key. They actually did a walk through before returning my deposit. I am a 35 year old African American woman and I felt as if I was treated like a child. It may be convenient, but the mistreatment was not worth the money. "Super 8 minutes from 6th"
Common Super8. Nothing horrible about it. I'm 22 and budgeting so it was hands down the best price I've seen. The distance to the capital and sixth street is less than a mile, so that was a plus. Our room even had a fridge and microwave. That REALLY helped out on our after 6th adventure. The area wasn't great but wasnt dangerous. "Convinient Location to DT Austin"
We were very satisfied with the overall quality and convinience of Super8. It was right off the highway and across from where we needed to be in the morning. We would and will stay there again. Room was clean, quiet and breakfast was good.

"Super 8 close to 6th"
Horrible experience! Would never stay at a super 8 again, I'd rather pay $50 more to stay at another hotel.

This hotel is perfect for a student on a college budget! As long as you are aware you aren't paying for a 5 star hotel I guarantee you will be satisfied!! Cab ride was only 2 minutes from 6th street and only cost $4.50 each way. Definitely the way to go!

"Close to downtown Austin, Tx and Frank Erwin Cente"
You can't beat it for the price. This place is a 15 minute walk to the Frank Erwin Center and a short drive to 6th street. Perfect location for the concert goer.

I do recommend this hotel, but you need to know going in that it is popular with the 6th street crowd and concert-goers to the Frank Irwin Center. We were awoken by loud partiers at about 2:30 and someone ran their car into something in the parking lot shortly thereafter. We walked to Frank Irwin (10 minute walk, sidewalk all the way) and back from a concert and it was very easy and convenient. Check-in and check-out were smooth and quick. There is breakfast in the lobby, but I did not go in there to see what it was. For a very affordable price, we had in our room, a MW, fridge, iron and ironing board and hair dryer. The place is obviously dated, but if you just need a place to crash after a fun night in Austin (and dont want to spend a bundle), it is just right. "Not So WOW"
It's a great location but the perks end there. We experienced problems with the staff, air conditioning, and with noise. It's not at ALL a nice hotel. That said, if you're looking to be close to downtown it is an inexpensive option.

"Management lacking"
We were impressed with the physical hotel, it was clean, well kept and OK but when we tried to work with the management for a late checkout, they were very rude and said it would be another nights fee if we were 10 minutes late.
"Noisy neighborhood, no services nearby"
Room was ok for sleeping except first night when noisy party going on in parking lot until very late. AC unit very noisy coming on and off all night. Bathtub/ shower has mildew stains in tile grout, shower rubber mat was torn, needed to be replaced. Floor coving on tub falling off.

"Recommend for price rate!"
Of course it's not supposed to be 5-star. For the rate it was a very clean and comfortable room. The staff was very effectient in processing me to my room.

Just off the highway, this hotel has not been maintained. The first room I was put in was small, had ripped curtains and smelled like cigarette smoke. I had requested a non-smoking room. When I went to the front desk to get reassigned, the manager just complained about Hotels.com and made it sound like he was doing me a favor to give me another room. […] The second room was also awful. The shower temp varied greatly, the toilet was almost completely loose, and when I went to check out they didn't bother asking if everything was all right. Asked for early check-in. Arrived Around 9:40. The check-out time is 12:00. However, I was told it would take 3hrs to have 1 room available?? They did let me leave my luggage at the hotel while I killed time downtown. Also, they gave me directions to downtown. TV could use Comedy Central (but if you're that close to downtown why hangout in the hotel […] and watch TV?) There wasn't a plug in the tub to take a bath but the front desk was able to provide one. Standard hotel across I-35 from UT campus and downtown, but within easy walking distances (0-2 mi); older Super 8, but clean and has Golf Channel !!

We liked being close enough to walk to downtown--6th Street in particular. Our room was quiet and the air conditioner worked well for the 98 degree temperatures.

I was impressed because the carpets had recently been clean. This is so often a souse of unpleasant odors in hotels when I travel.

This hotel is clean, comfortable and convenient to downtown Austin destinations, but at a fraction of the cost of the competing nearby hotels. The price is even better when you factor in free parking and complimentary breakfast.

Very conveniently placed, nice parking, secluded and feels safe. The rooms have a nice size, not big, but enough room. The beds are really good, and everything works. The custodians there are doing a really good job in keeping the rooms nice and clean. You can even ask for a super clean room - and get it! The bathrooms are old, and the showers kinda […] hard to adjust at first, but you get used to put the taps to full heat and hardly any cold - and get a nice temperature. The bathroom is, like the rest of the room, really nice and clean, the towels are of good quality. The breakfast is ok, but the coffee in the room is awful! "Super 8 Austin Downtown/Capitol Area"
A great place to stay, close to downtown, the Capitol, UT and the Football stadium. The only negative were broadband bandits in the parking lot. Management is aware of the problem and is working on a solution. I come to Austin 2-3 times a year. I will stay nowhere else.

"You get what you pay for"
This place is obviously not somewhere you want to take your wife and kids... but in my case 12 guys for a bachelor party downtown Austin... The shoe fit. The worst part was only one parking spot per room. We parked the rest in a parking garage downtown for 8 bucks each overnight.

"Paid too much for location"
This location is close to most major attractions in Austin but on the border of a scary area. The room was dirty and fixtures were damaged. If you could stomach undressing in that room and take a shower you would find no control over water temp. or pressure. The rates are 5 times what they should be for the simple fact that you are within walking distance […] of the capital. "bargain hotel room near downtown"
i had read previous reviews, and so i honestly didn't expect much. in the end, i was looking for a bargain hotel near downtown, and this fit the bill. i was slightly familiar with the area, so while it may not have appeared in the best neighborhood, i was not that worried about it. despite being near the freeway, the room i was in (and i believe most […] rooms) are situated in such a way that i didn't hear the noise. i was in a room under the stairs, and the noise of people going up and down those stairs was fairly loud, as was the noise of the night clerk at the window with late check-ins. but i'm a heavy sleeper, the room was clean, the king sized bed was firm. there was a refrigerator and a microwave in the room for leftovers from my trip. the tv was tube-style, out of date, but functional. in the end, i was looking for a bargain hotel that was a couple of minutes from the office i was visiting, and this hotel fit the bill. if you are expecting much more, you should look for higher priced options. for the money, it was a good value. "REMINDED ME OF A PRISONCELL"
FLOORS WERE THE NASTIEST I HAVE EVER WALKED ON. YOUR FEET STUCK AND SOUNDED LIKE VELCROW PEELIN APART!!!!! IFyou didn"t wear shoes even to go to bathroom your feet were black as night. "unhelpful management"
My gripe stems from a mistake I made. I left my jacket in the room. They've found it but refuse to post it on. They have even refused to place it in a box for a courier to pick up. The place itself, clean and comfortable. It's a motel so I wasn't expecting much, but the noise from the air con was akin to a jet taking off. There were people milling […] around at 3 in the morning talking pretty loudly. Despite there being security onsite, nothing was done about it. I complained to the guys themselves and within a couple of minutes they were quiet. Despite that, I was satisfied with the place. Just not satisfied with the hotel management. I did notice the put the price up high for people looking for last minute rooms too. They were asking an extra third of what we paid, on the extortionate side for a facility of this quality. "just a place to lay your head"
if you are looking for just a place to lay your head for the night and do not care about the bed, cleanliness, etc... this place will do for the price. Next time I will pay a little more and have a nicer place.
