For the price, this place is fine. The room was tiny, but perfect for one person just needing a place to sleep for a night or two. Within walking distance of lots of eateries, good little continental breakfast. Very helpful front desk staff, tea/coffee and cookies next to the front desk all day.

King bed room was real small and parking was a hassle. But great rate and location.

Stayed 2 nights, was very clean and comfortable. The service was very good. Have no hesitation to recommend this hotel to others.

Everything was okay, except that the hotel had a very strong chemical-like smell. I'm not too sure what it was, but I've never smelled any type of cleaning formula smell that was strong at any other hotel. Also, it took forever to get hot water, and the temperature of the water would fluctuate a lot. The room where the free breakfast is served was […] also fairly cold. Very friendly staff and also a great looking hotel. Small room, but very well taken care of and cmfortable. They thought of everything at this place. Recommended.

We stayed here for a convention and found it to be a great place to lay our heads. The only problem was that it was a 7-10 minute walk from the Metro. Our convention was down the red line a few stops, so the savings in room price was well worth the walk.

The temp gauge did not work and the room was very hot. The front desk was not very helpful and the next room they moved me to the water temp was very cold and not hot. The parking was horrible and there was no security for your car if you parked across the street. The pricing is very high for the value they give you. STAY AWAY.

On "Hotel Row" in downtown Bethesda, within walking distance of Red Line subway station/transit center. If you don't feel like walking, you can take a bus--one of which is a free downtown shuttle--to the hotel. Room was clean and small, but comfortable. No view--unless you like looking at the balconies of other people's apartments. Complimentary continental […] breakfast was good. (And a Starbucks is nearby.) Hotel rooms are small but ok for what we needed. the waffle maker at breakfast was a nice addition. If you want to take breakfast back to your room bring down the tray from your room. there is a gret pizza place right across the street too.

We stay at this hotel when visiting child at American University. Quick trip up the road. Convenient and affordable. Clean. Breakfast is well done, the usual cereals, fruit, waffels, bagels, drink, clean and well stocked.

Though there is a parking garage on site, I was told it's a "first come, first serve" situation. I was then told that there was a public parking area across the four lane road that I could use (and pay extra for). After driving 800 miles and making a reservation with the condition that there was on site parking, I wasn't too pleased. Then an employee […] told me that the management was renting out parking spaces to local workers, which accounted for the lack of parking space. Stayed here during U.S. Open good price compared to some others in area--walking distance to many good restaurants and bars. Hard to access hotel from Wisconsin Ave. and little parking at hotel. This room was extremely small, service was extremely limited and the cost was extremely over priced for this hotel. The one good thing, it is close to NIH, but choose another hotel in the area.

The worst things I can say are that a) the room was pretty small and b) the parking garage is small so that you _may_ wind up paying to park in a public lot nearby, and c) our view was of the apartment building next door. However, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We had a small car we could park in the parking garage where nobody else […] dared go, so we had free parking (most of the hotels in the area charge for parking). Breakfast (cereal, muffins, juice, hard-boiled eggs, fruit) was included in the rate. The staff was helpful and friendly. The location is about 3/4 mile north of the Bethesda row shopping area and a half mile (maybe less) from the Metro stop, but there is a free shuttle (the Bethesda Circulator) that runs on the street in back of the hotel. It runs 7am-10pm or so and can take you to the Metro or the shopping area. We were very happy with what we got. I would say if you plan to use the room for much more than sleeping (say, a gathering place during a family reunion) that you find a hotel with bigger rooms, though. Leia mais

Overall, an average hotel in a decent location. Absolutely useless parking area resulting in parking across the street behind another building in a public lot. I will not stay here again, but for the rate I was able to get on short notice on a holiday weekend, I can't complain too much.

This hotel was very clean, staff were polite and friendly, free internet, and great location, walking distance from the metro and many great restaurants.

older hotel, rooms small but ok, tv and fridge in room. if use on-line service booking service (i.e. hotels.com) credit card gets charged prior to u even getting checked-in. I didn't like that!

a nice quiet local just otside dc. other than waffle iron broken for breakfast i had a great stay

My boyfriend and I got to the hotel.got the key to our room.shocked that it was only 1key anyways,then went to our room.when we opened the door,room was dirty.went back downstairs, report so. This hotel is perfectly located in a nice neighborhood. it is close to USUS and a metro station.

Everything was as described. A first class hotel, better than its two star rating. My only complaint was the limited parking; the good news it was free.

The American Inn is a great place to stay, especially if you need to be close to the NIH or Naval medical center (walkable diatance, 10 min). Convenient location for public transport, and surrounded by great restaurants in Bethesda.

Rooms are very small but what a terrific value. Nice and quiet. Fantastic location near Bethesda Naval Hospital/NIH. Walkable to plenty of restuarants, CVS, and 7-11. Includes continental breakfast. Front desk staff were very courteous.

Rooms were very clean but small. Towels in bath were thin. Hospitality people were very nice and friendly. Continental breakfast was nice.

This is a great location (better in the summer with the pool). Beds are comfortable as are the rooms. The staff is a little eh, but with some prodding, they will come around.

The hotel is well located in Bethesda - near everything. It was an excellent value for the money. The room was small but very comfortable. Everything worked well, the linens were fresh and the spreads, drapes, etc have been updated. Breakfast was ample and tasty.

The hotel was VERY clean, free parking, easy access to American University, which is what we were looking for. Nice neighborhood to walk around and lots of stores incl. a Trader Joe's on Wisconsin Ave.

The hotel is not very well maintained. The first room I was offered had a strong sewage smell.

AIB is very convenient for those doing business with the NIH in Bethesda. It is within walking distance of both the NIH campus and the Bethesda dining/shopping district. It is quite reasonably priced; parking, Wi-Fi and a very modest breakfast buffet are free. Low rate and convenient location are the highlights. The rooms are small and not well equipped, the carpet is old. Limited parking in their tiny lot (but arrange spots in public parking 2 blocks away.. it was raining).

It wasn't the worst hotel I've stayed in but it was not what I expected. I didn't realize that parking was very limited so I had to park across the street, and then walk back at night, in the rain. To access my room, I had to walk up 3 flights of stairs. Part of the hotel (not where I stayed) had outdoor access, giving it a run-down motel feel. The only thing we could say that took away from our stay was the lack of parking at the motel. We were lucky because we were there on the weekend and did not have to pay for parking in the city lot on weekends. Will use this motel when we stay in Bethesda again.

We left our very expensive camera at the room. Thank you to the cleaning service for their honesty and for turning it in to management.

Great hotel. The location was perfect and the room was like wise very nice. The help was friendly and took care of the customers promptly. The only thing is there is very few free parking spots available at the hotel itself so that might be an issue, but luckily it wasn't for myself during my stay.

The only problem: we had reserved a queen size bed. The room we were given had 2 double beds, but upon speaking with the front desk they were able to find us an upgraded room with king-size bed, no addtl charge. Otherwise, very nice and very convenient to downtown Bethesda.

This is a small property close to the Metro and downtown Bethesda and the NIH. Internet is free and so is parking if spots are available. For the prices of hotels in Washington and surrounding the room rates are fine but the hotel is basic and it shows in the furnishings. TheMexican restauraunt associated with this hotel is good as is the Sushi place […] across the street. Leia mais
